We have just experianced the Best Classic race meeting in the world at the brand new HAMPTON DOWNS circuit just south of Auckland. There were 47 F5000 cars entered along with 12 Can Am cars including a March 717, Mclaren M1 a`s and b`plus a Lola T70. To stand at the pit exit while these cars trundle past was petrol head heaven, to be at the end of the main straight hearing these cars at full ...

Just had two days in heaven 30 x F5000's screaming down the front straight for a rolling start, there is only one sound that is better than that, guess what? This was at the opening of the new race track just south of Auckland, its called Hampton Downs and this was the official opening and a celebration of the Bruce McLaren Festival. Over 400 historic cars and over 100 from outside NZ And the...

So i bought a pair of these speakers for my sound system since i've always wanted a pair of floorstanding speakers and finally found something affordable, i knew sony was a pretty good company from what i've owned from them before, mostly shelf systems and what not, so since i was on a budget i order these and give them a try. I'm not a "noob" to good audio considering a friend of mine gave me ...

I'd like to do some fast open track days but I don't really want to beat on my GT40 too much - the transaxle certainly won't take it and it's much too nice a car to risk trading some paint with a Camaro or a TR6. So, I'm looking at other possibilities and considering either a) an old F5000 car, or b) an old Indy car. I've seen a few F5000s that are a bit tired and worn for $75-100K but ...

I think what we need is a modern F5000. Modern monocoque, simple parts, off the shelf crate 5.0 engines. No flash electronics or aero. F1 is now so business racing in far off places that locals need something to cheer and enjoy some decent single seater racing. Superleague however at least for now, I really enjoy that. I like the Panoz car, the V-12 and the racing. I think it's going ...
Just read this thread and had to have a say. I ran a F5000 for nearly ten years which had a flat plane crank for some of the time. Yes it had a little more HP, Yes the engine was used as a stressed member, and Yes it did vibrate, but believe me you had other things to worry about, like trying to save your life, so you hardly noticed it. What you did notice, however, was the effect the thing ...

Over on the scratchbuild section Dan Dyke made a mention that American George Follmer is under-remembered over there in the US. I think that is a travesty, so here is a little list of some achievments by George Follmer to remind everyone the star he is- Points in his first Grand Prix Podium in his Second Grand Prix 13 Trans Am race wins 7 Can Am race wins Winner Sebring 12 hour Winner Vallelunga...
