"Adjusted trends, accounting for documented and undocumented break points and their uncertainty, across the extratropical Northern Hemisphere lower and midtroposphere show warming of 0.1?0.4 K decade-1 and moistening on the order of 1%?5% decade-1 since 1970. There is little or no change in the observed relative humidity in the same period, consistent with climate model expectation of a ...

Problem: Loss of the rainforests (tropical and extratropical - Canada!) Solution: Where there is no market, there will be no offer... As long as they can sell the wood or the products they grow on these areas, they will continue to cut the rainforests. Very interesting: To stop global warming, people demand bio-fuels. The soy-beans and palm-oil for that is grown where? You guessed ...

Hurricanes and Global Warming: Is There a Link? By George Taylor Published 09/14/2004 I could see this one coming. The other day a lady in my department saw me and said, "Well, George, with all these hurricanes it's pretty clear that global warming is happening, right?" I think Jane was just being playful, because she's heard me talk about global warming and knows ...

Which raises a question about the current inter-glacial. A few thousand years ago during the Holocene Optimum temperatures were also 3-5°C warmer than now for a couple of thousand years. Were sea levels 7-9 meters higher than now? I haven't read about something like that. The IPCC AR4 treatment of the issues (p. 460: http://www.ipcc.ch/pdf/assessment-report/ar4/wg1/a r4-wg1-cha... ) ...

Global Signatures and Dynamical Origins of the Little Ice Age and Medieval Climate Anomaly Quote: Global temperatures are known to have varied over the past 1500 years, but the spatial patterns have remained poorly defined. We used a global climate proxy network to reconstruct surface temperature patterns over this interval. The Medieval period is found to ...

Even in 2003 regional hindcasting produced robust results. Quote: Evaluations of the hindcast suggest that the RCM-generated regional-scale fields are reasonably accurate, and preserve the large-scale information of the driving coarse-resolution data well. This refined spatial variability is crucial for regional climate and climate impact assessment studies, ...
