I recently created a GParted live usb disk on my pen drive according to instructions and tested it in other laptops. But my inspiron 1501 with phoenix bios (2.6.3, latest) wont boot from that. I have changed the boot order with both "Removable Disk" and "USB drive" above the hard drive. Ran a scan from Western Digital site indicates drive pass their test. If I look in device Manager I locate the drive. Ran look for new drivers comes back as have most current. Under volume tab all section are blank. I was able to see and use this drive in XP now just updated to Vista and can use it. Hello techies. I have an external hard drive that is not being allocated a drive letter. I can see the disk in Device Manager and Disk Management but when I try to initialise the drive, it says there's an I/O Error. I used Windows Vista to run a back up of my Maxtor harddrive (111GB) to my WD Book ( 931GB). It seems to have used the PC (Acer Netbook) to run the process and now the hardrive of the ACER is full (only 1.5 GB feww of 53GB) and I can't see where the files are to delete or how to rectify. I seemed to have lost the ability to read my acomdata puredrive 1Tb has been working for the last 8 months. Now I get a red light when I turn it on.
