Hi, I have a win 2k3 server machine where my DB is hosted. I had an Application server on a system called Talisma 2 a couple of years back, but this machine has been turned off for quite some time now. However, on my DB machine, the event viewer logs the following error once everyday: "DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer TALISMA2 using any of the configured protocols" ...

Hello all! I am using windows 7 home premium 64 bit. So far no major problems and I really like the new operating system. I was looking in the even viewer and noticed that every time I plug in a usb flash drive, I get the following message. "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR3". The flash drive works just fine and there are no other apparent problems ...

I am supporting Windows 2008 machines and remotely connect via my XP laptop. I just realized today that when I use remote computer management to view the event logs on a server 2008 box that the source column is completely blank. If I connect through a Windows 7 machine I am able to see entries in the "source" column. Is there any add-ons or tweaks I can to in my XP machine to be able to view...

I'm running Vista with Service Pack 2. If I look at the XML for an Event Viewer custom view that is filtered by "last 30 days", it includes "[timediff(@SystemTime) <= 18446744072006584320]". The correct number of milliseconds for 30 days is 2592000000. This appears to be an error in converting from a 16-bit value to a 32-bit value.  The correct value, 2592000000, is 0x9A7EC800. The value that ...

I have an asp.net web application that logs many, many events to the Event Viewer in a custom log.  The logging is by... System.Diagnostics. EventLog .WriteEntry( "CustomEventLog" , "Message"); Do I have to worry about thread safety since the application is a web application and there are many, many instances making the same call at the same time? Thanks, Chris...

It lags when loading to the desktop, etc. You have the same chip as me, what memory (see ocz in your specs, what model) are you running and how snappy is your desktop. You're better off keeping the Event Logs tidy through Event Viewer itself ... it's far more configurable. It's not a good idea to keep them completely cleared down because of their usefulness.
