I'm at my grandparents house and they no longer have a wireless router (short story, don't wish to retell) but they still do have broadband internet access. Now at home I have wireless so online is no problem but here there's only the ethernet cable. So would my previous question work?

Does it matter what rating the ethernet cable is that I tie between the SB and the Router? I'm seeing CAT5, CAT 5E, CAT6 etc. While on that subject, can one tie the SB directly to the modem (I see extra ports on the back of it.....DSL by the way) or must it be tied thru the router). Once again, thank you for all your replies on previous posts! Rog

Not sure why but my HP Pavilion Slimeline s7613w will no longer recognize the ethernet cable. It used to work on it no problem. I tested the cable in my Emachine Desktop and it works fine. Interestling enough my brothers Dell (which is a Slimeline) as well will not recognize the cable either. Any ideas what the problem might be?

I assume the term "for a hub or switch", is referring to connecting your PC to a hub or switch, in that case, they are referring to a straight-through cable. It depends what you are trying to do. If you are connecting a device such as a PC or laptop to a switch/router, you want a straight-through cable. If you are connecting a PC to another PC, then you want the crossover.

You need to open the ports on your router, go to Portforward.com and find your model of router in the list (Router List) and select it then follow the instructions. After you found your router, go to the Port List section on that site and find Playstation Network then forward the ports on your router and you should be good.
