I have a set of 1/4 drive snapon stuff shallow and deep sockets some other odds and ends. date code 84 for those keeping track. some of you snappy guys may not want to hear this as it may constitute abuse, but i want to get the etching off. Has anyone here tried etching (ferric chloride) or bluing with gun blue their AUS8 blades? I'd love to know how they come out. I would probably go with the etching, myself. I saw a 16 ounce bottle of ferric at Radio Shack for under $5

Has anybody had a logo put on a 3"x7" or larger stencil for doing their own silk screening? Seems to me like it would be pretty easy to do and I bet you could get a 8"x8" or so stencil made for a reasonable price and it would probably last for as long as you need to wear shirts.

I have some on my car. How long can I go without getting it taken care of before it causes major damage? It hasn't been on that long, is there any other treatment besides cutting and polishing to get it out?

I have read various threads here on this issue. I have drinking glasses from Target that are only 6 months old and I just noticed that they are starting to etch. :( I am not happy -- I love these glasses and now they look terrible! We have soft water and I have been using Cascade tablets with rinse aid. From what I've read on here, the possible solutions to prevent further etching are:...

When I was a teenager home video was a hobby almost on a scale with still photography. In the library photography was sandwiched between videography and etching, and when I ran out of photography books Id top up my sex education in the home movie section. Other than that video cameras seemed to make girls take their clothes off, I couldnt see the attraction of the moving image as an ...

I picked up a used Surco roof rack yesterday. Its solid but the black paint is flaking off in a few spots. Since its made out of aluminum, could I use that (duplicolor) etching primer/paint after I get it cleaned up? Any other creative suggestions will be considered as well. Thanks I'll post a pic or two tomorrow

I have 4 victorian marble fireplace mantles, all are mostly white carrara marble. They are all in need of some loving care - smoke stains, scratches, etching, dried adhesive where the iron firebox surrounds loosened. I can hire a marble restoration specialist to clean them up and repoint them but it is nearly $1500 a pop - more than I am willing to spend by a long shot. I am willing to do some...
