I walked the North Beach today and was horrified at the hugh increase in the level of coastal erosion since the summer. I would estimate that in places erosion in excess of 5 meters has already occurred. The "cliff walk" has now been diverted to the railway end of Darcys field and the path between Darcys field and the site of the Gap Bridge has now eroded into the sea. The path around the ...

"The long erosion menace in Ihioma town in Orlu LGA, Imo State for two decades now is unbearable. Our people have been battling to solve the problem, but it is above what a community or LG council can handle. We hereby call on both Federal and state governments to come to our aid." Dear Prime Minister, I would be delighted if you would please consider the following carefully, in the interest of the many thousands of dispossessed parents and children of Australia. Sooner or later the tide is going to turn. It took many years for us to recognize the injustices perpetrated against our Indigenous populations, Slavery, Apartheid, Civil Rights etc, etc. These injustices ...

A friend of mine has drawn my attention to an article in the Independent which the AP may well be soon highlighting is that of private companies who own due to urban regeneration schemes, tracts of property which they are then imposing on the public, restrictons on not just photography, but the eating of food in the street! The 'rot' first started at Canary Wharf, and now aparrently ...

I LOL-ed when Sylar hit the dirt. Much as I love the guy, it's hilarious when someone one-ups him. Summary of LOST's Finale: Locke marries the Island and makes sweet love to it forever. The End.

Preexisting condition A friend of mine was denied insurance because of a preexisting condition. He inherited a vacation cabin that has serious foundation problems. It was built on the steep side of a hill overlooking a lake. Over the years erosion had seriously undermined the footings and the entire back of the house is now in danger of falling off. He tried to buy insurance on this house but ...

This was the state of word thought leading up to creation of the EPA: The period 1962 to 1970 witnessed a slow erosion in the popularity of the word "conservation," as man himself replaced trees and wildlife as the endangered species, bar none. Overpopulation and industrialization had left mankind trapped in a deteriorating environment. The damage was not just esthetically displeasing but ...

if our government had any sense of responsibility to us, they would be spending billions on sea defences to prevent this sort of thing. Instead they will send the money to Africa, and also waste it on "Climate change research" and pointless CO2 reductions. This is caused by wave erosion , not global warming. But they care more about Africa and Bangla Desh than our own citizens.

On the foreign exchange market, the euro was virtually at parity with the dollar on December 31, 1999, but a decade later the greenback ...
