Are any of you experiencing a pain in your spine where they put in the epidural? I am! I usually feel it more when I am picking up the baby or sitting up. Will this go away?

I'm a FTM and have an induction scheduled at the end of next week if I don't go into labor naturally by then. My question is, I heard Pitocin hurts, so should I get an epidural (if so, do you suggest after a certain point, e.g., 5 cm), or does that slow things up too much? thanks.

If you had another baby would you try it without the epidural? I know the pain is intense and it helps so much to have the meds, but after having two kids and knowing that the pain doesnt last forever, i think that if I ever have another, which I most likely will not, that I will try to go without it. I just hated being in that hospital bed, so uncomfortable, unable to move, having to lay in ...

I would like to have an Epidural but have been told that this may not be possible to due a back defect that I was born with. I have very mild Spina Bifida where a few of my vertebrae have never formed at the base of my spine. I am due to have a meeting with the anaesthetist this Thursday to discuss further but just wondered if there are any mama's out there with back defects that have had an...

VBAC without epidural My doctor "advised" me at my last appointment that both hospitals require an epidural, or for a test dose to be placed. I want to refuse this, change hospitals, or just go unassisted (vbac with midwife is illegal in az) but wanted to see what others have done reqarding VBAC without epidural. Thanks!...

I had an epidural with both boys. About a week after Eli's birth, I noticed a very tender spot on my back where I think the epidural went in. It is still tender to this day. I never had such a thing with my first. It isn't debilitating or anything, but if I sit in certain chair/benches I notice it. Also if I just rub my fingers over that spot it still hurts. Does anyone else experience this...

Okay, so i watched the BBC video on getting an epidural and to be honest it scared me. I have already been on fence about it.. whether to get it or not. Most women in my family get them. But i feel like sticking a HUGE needle in my SPINE is not for me personally. So what are some of the alternatives to having an epi? I dont want to do natural, but i just dont know if i will be able to handle ...

Well, I'm pregnant again and thinking about childbirth. I had a completely unmed labour 8 months ago with my son. Fairly uncomplicated, had a doula... about a day of annoying labour, but nothing too strenuous, then 8 hours of painful contractions and back labour, and finally 4 hours of active labour which SUCKED!! My other baby, FIRST child, was similar, except that I got an epidural around 4...
