During a workshop I was introduced to using the Ilford 500 variable contrast head in combination with an RH Design 500 analyser. As this worked very nicely I am considering switching to this system, but I am wondering which would be the best enlarger to go with it. I have seen Beselers, Dursts, Leitz's and DeVere's in the threads here on Apug but I don't have sufficient knowledge of them to make ...

I just got a Dunco Modell II-66 CVC with at Focotar 40mm for free! A nice little enlarger for negatives up to 6x6. It has both colour and mulitigrade filters built in, a feature I've never seen before. Included was a Saunders 4-blade easel, a Peak grain magnifier, a large selection of trays up to 40x50 cm, and a lot of other bits and pieces. The previous owner had unsuccessfully tried to ...

Diffusion Glass for Enlarger Okay, I just got a new-to-me Elwood 5x7 operating last night and I have just figured out how to find the sweet spot for aiming the light and my hot spot is manageable now but, the diffusion is still rough and varied. The old glass is cracked anyway so I'm looking for ideas on what to replace this with. BTW I tried a new style spiral CFL bulb to...

Hi, I have a Durst CLS450 and need to replace the enlarger bulb. This seemed like a simple enough task except that there appear to be many different bulbs (from different manufacturers) with very different pricing. The price ranges from about $6 to about $50, and the specs appear the same. The brands are different though. The label on my bulb reads as follows: USHIO ELC 24V/250Watt Japan...

I seem to scratch my negative while I print. My negative carrier is a sandwich type (non-glass) Omega D2 kind. I'm careful to open up the sandwich slightly when I move the negative to adjust its position. Are there any tricks to avoid this? I thought about using masking tape or something around the opening but then I might get some glue on film.....

I just acquired a Leitz Focomat V35 colour enlarger. It came with what I think is a colour analyser. The only marking it has says "Wallner SM Color", with no model number or other ID marking. Is anyone familiar with this piece of equipment and would you know where I could find a manual. I have tried unsuccessfully so far to scour the web for a manual, as I do not know how to use this equipment. ...

I haven't done any printing in many years but I just bought a 23CII XL enlarger on ebay and would like to get started again. The enlarger is setup for 35mm with neg carrier and 50mm El Nikor lens. I would like to also use it on 6x4.5 negs from my Bronica Etrsi and was wondering if anyone uses the 6x6 neg carrier for 6x4.5. I have found the 6x6 on ebay but no 6x4.5 negative carrier and they ...

Hi, I have a DeVere 507 which is a great enlarger, but has some defects: it is very power consuming, it heats up a lot and it need noisy fans to be constantly running, and fades even dichroic filters in the long run, because they are very close to the light source. I was wondering if I can substitute its light sources (originally two MR16 24V/250W halogen lamps) with correspondent high ...

Its from a Durst 10x10 enlarger and it has 2 holes but for a home-made camera or old wood camera restoration on a budget it seems like patching those holes is going to be way easeir than building a whole bellows. (No affilliation with the ad). e-bay item 220455712206

I have an old Meopta Axomat 4a with an Anaret 50/4.5 that I intend to replace with the Nikon lens. Now the newbie (stupid) question; Is there any way of fitting the Nikon lens to my enlarger since the thread size (and lens) is a lot bigger than that of my Anaret lens.

Back in the late 70s the voltage regulated 19V power supply for my Minolta Mod III enlarger went bad. I converted it over to a 1/2 wave rectified non-regulated supply with a big diode. It has a 24V transformer, so half of that is around 13 measured volts. I used the enlarger like that all these years. Now I letting my kids use that enlarger. The "Kodak Projection Print Scale" works great with ...
