Engine oil light was on during the start this afternoon. I stopped the car and restarted again and the light disappeared. Any suggestion what problems could be? The car runs ok right now, but the light really bothered me. "Check engine" was also on two weeks ago due to slow purge solenoid valve (as identified by the code of P0441) and it has been repaired. I was also told by the shop that ...

It seems that the 300tdi engine oil gets pretty dirty quickly when its done 100 thou or so miles (124000miles). I had the Disco into a friend who is a LR specialist early on in the summer to get the shockers all done. While it was in I had him do all the oils to save me rolling about on my back getting EP90 in my eyes and ATF down my sleeve. He asked when I had last changed the ...

Okay, this seems a simple task, but I put the 4.5 quarts of oil that my owners manual states, yet the dipstick shows it isn't full. It's about a 1/4 from the top of the "one quart low" area. Is this a misprint in my manual or perhaps I have the wrong dipstick installed. Or perhaps the 5 gallon jug of oil wasn't quite full from the factory. Not sure what to do, but my first though was to fill ...

My car is a Hyundai Elantra 2004 with around 54k miles on it. I just bought it recently, used. So, I have no idea when was the last time it has its oil changed, and all the maintenance done. When I bought the car, I checked the engine oil indicator and saw that it has around a quarter/half of the indicator level. I used the car for about a week, just to settle down insurance and a ...

I am selling my X5 (hence my UberPanzer handle) and planning to buy a used 2007 335i sedan. I am seeing posts on this site and others about overheating issues and high engine oil temp issues during normal ops. What are the issues? Has BMW addressed them with software and/or hardware updates under warranty? Are there certain cars that have been modified by the factory? How ...

Without blinking an eye, yesterday I spent $109.85 with tax at my local Chevy dealer to have my oil changed properly by their Corvette mechanic. A Z06 has a different enough oil change that I wouldn't trust it to a Jiffy Lube monkey, and I no longer change my own oil because it's a pain in the ass. That comes out to less than 2 cents per mile for oil. Gasoline costs about ...
