im thinking using something to get a lil cleaner motor. i dont want to use that engine flush shit that you pour into the oil and let it run for a minute then pour out. in the past i heard of people using tranny fluid to do this. pouring in one quart and then running the motor for a while, then doing the oil change. anyone here ever do that? is this a good idea?

Folks, I have a 2001 Jetta with about 120000 miles on it and a few months ago I had it tuned and added PP520s. I also have a 2.5" downpipe, high flow cat and 2.5 straight exhaust on the car. Its running good but the last few weeks in the morning I will get a buildup of crap shot out onto my driveway. I don't know if this is oil coming out of my turbo or crud from the engine. Usually ...

Have a briggs & stratton 8hp on a chiper/shreder that the fuel pump is not working all the time. When the engine does start oil blows out the tube that goes to the air cleaner. Could the fuel pump cause the excess crank pressure as it is a diafram type. It is a model 192432 0122-01.

I dug this 2003 discussion out of the archives as a referenced for a current "veg contaminated with UEO" discussion, though someone might want to continue the testing, I got sidetracked with other projects. This testing seems to indicate adding up to 25% UMO to the veg before processing can reduce the gel point considerably for winter use, also extends the volume of the fuel.

I posted this info as part of another thread, but thought it might mean something to others as well.... For those that do their own oil changes, you might want to take a look at local/regional suppliers for their engine oils. It is well known in the the oil industry, that Motiva is the manufacturer of most of the oil base stocks for the industry. Infineum also is the largest producer of ...

Engine Oil Flush Been following a thread over on the Aussie site, about flushing the oil system. Seems the usual method is to dump in a certain type of cleaner, let the engine idle for the correct amount of time, and then drain... and people are getting a LOT of sludge out of 2l series engines. Makes sense - they're definitely ...

does anyone have a definitive answer on what engine oil a diesel JK should have, because i am confused. The owners manual states (p147): with DPF = 5W-30 fully Synth without DPF = 0W-40 fully Synth Which sounds odd to me, in my (somewhat limited) understanding i would expect the DPF vehicles to require better oil so the DPF has less to filter out and therfore a longer life, but maybe...

Engine Oil Usage - Excessive? My 2007 Ody is using oil, about a quart every 2,500 miles. I use Mobil 1, and frequently tow a 3,500# trailer with it. It currently has 40,000 miles on it, and I didn't particularly notice any oil usage the first nine-months I had it, which were largely non-towing months. Does this seem reasonable (it did to the Honda dealer service guy)? What are...

Here is a poblem which I am sure has been dealt with, but I cannot find an answer in the various posts: My understanding is that my 1984 300 SD has an 8 quart oil requirement, however when I change my oil (@3k), my dip stick reports about 1/2 quart low. When I drain the oil from the sump, I find that I was about 2 quarts low. My engine number is "617951 12 061218". I check my oil level ...

Hi, i realise that the correct engine oil for my DIESEL engine is listed as MB 229.51 fully synthetic 5w-40 however i keep seeing some oils where it says BOTH MB 229.31 / MB 229.51 on the label Question:- is the 229.31 totally unsuitable for my engine and what is the difference between MB 229.31 and MB 229.51. Thanks Darryl

I checked my oil level through the MMI menu couple of nights ago and noticed it was 2 notches down from the full level. knowing the oil level was low, I opened my 4.4L bottle of Castrol 5w-40 syntech. Wrong move, because pouring the 4.4L into the engine could result in overfill; which was what happended to me. the worst part is I didn't notice it until today, because MMI system took a while to do...

Hello all- I am working on a 1984 Coupe Deville with a 4100, rear wheel drive. The engine oil cooler lines are rotted, the ones that go to the radiator to the engine. Does anyone know where I can obtain some new or good used ones? I tried GM and they do not have any and they searched their database. Any help is appreciated. I want to get back on the road! Lenny
