Just bought a new truck and the dealership didn't bring down the cord for me. Where exactly is it mounted and is it something I can do myself or do i need to have the dealership do it for me?

My 2009 came with the factory engine block heater. I really won't be using it, and wanted to remove it. If I remove the heating element, what would go in it's place, a freeze plug or ???? Has anyone done this before, and what parts would I need. Thanks guys

I would like to know if there was an available engine heater I can purchase for my V70 1999. My local dealer thought yes but was unable to locate one. I can't find an OEM after-market yet, any ideas? Any refurbished/recycled suppliers/resellers? thanks. I prefer 110v for Chicago, Illinois but would settle for 220v. Sorry, I have to keep my V70 outside, don't think bad of me...

I bought an 06 Maga cab with a Hemi. Yes!!! Awesome truck but it needs help for the Alaska winter. I need to install an engine block heater. Both of the auto supply stores tell me they don't make an engine block heater for this model. Suggestions??? Is going to get really cold here in a few months....

Has anyone ever used a light bulb to heat their engine block overnight in a cold climate? I am a pilot and have noticed people doing this with piston airplane engines up here in Colorado for years when the hangar has no heat. A light bulb under the engine cowling can provide enough heat the keep the oil at a safe engine starting temp. I am thinking about doing this with my cars when/if ...

I bought this for my 08 but I'm getting rid of the car. Its still new in the packaging. Don't know if this is 08 specific, should fit other year Subaru's, and if I'm not mistaken almost any EJ series motor? Someone correct me on that as I am uncertain. $25 shipped.

Figure this one out.... Today I used the engine block heater on my 07 for the first time (32 degrees out). I have the plug on a timer so it'll turn on 2 hours before I get up and go to work (great trick.) Worked great and cranked right up, however I noticed that it reset my Edge system to factory specs. It acted as if the heater block terminates battery connection to everything? Does this ...

Hey guys, looking for some info from some fellow 2007+ lade drivers... Is your engine coolant and block heater plugin hanging under/behind the front lip? I thought I didn't have one, turns out it's RIGHT behind the front lip. Kinda super pissed off about this considering I have to lay on the ground to ...

Now that it's getting colder today I checked my scan gauge at start-up. It read 67 degrees with the outside temperature at 30 degrees. That's only 37 degrees difference where your new block heater was 62 degrees difference. My thoughts are that I have pulled the plug out twice from forgetting to undo the extension cord. No doubt I have some resistant wiring that needs to be cut out with a ...

I live in Northern Canada and drive a diesel Land Cruiser: Block heater is the best way to get heat to an engine. Period. Recirculating coolant heaters are ok (called a "tank-type coolant heater" elsewhere in this thread) but can lead to the early deterioration of the hoses they are attached to (make sure the heater's heat valve is open fully so the coolant can move and you aren't just ...
