I have been thinking about the following situation, without getting the physical understandig straight: Two electrodes, one twice the size (area) of the other, are connected to a voltage generator to obtain a voltage difference of 100V between the electrodes. The question is if the voltage will be split symmetrically between the electrodes? (i.e. is the ...

Supercapacitor electrodes with nano-scaled graphene platelets United States Patent 7,623,340 Song, et al. November 24, 2009 Nano-scaled graphene plate nanocomposites for supercapacitor electrodes Abstract A preferred embodiment of the present invention is a meso-porous nanocomposite material comprising: (A) nano-scaled graphene platelets, wherein each of the platelets comprises a ...

I have not searched enough/researched, but my immediate need is to clarify the following in the context of pH electrodes, metallic electrodes and conductivity cells, particularly as regards the way they are conceived/ designed, [WARNING] my queries may be naive [WARNING]: (1a) Often a vendor mention's pH electrodes as a "COMBINED pH electrode", what could/ does...

Researchers Develop Method to Enhance Capacitance of Carbon Nanotube Electrodes for Supercapacitors... http://www.greencarcongress.com/2009/11/bandaru-20 091122.html Hey, it's got 'carbon nanotubes' in the title so I figure it's of interest to people here. For what it's worth, one of my other penny bets is ZENN, which holds a part interest in EEStor, a secretive Texas supercapacitor ...

I think that in new version of Diablo, you should have to hook up to electrodes to play so that when you kill another player you shock them. Some form of pain infliction would really help the gameplay.

I think I'm grasping some of the basics here but would like some help. Is the carbon on the electrodes on my spark plugs similar to the heat mark visible in the pictures Formula jg posted? That is, if the carbon is mostly from idle and off idle, then the amount the carbon is burned back is an indicator of whether the combustion stalled after initiation? The photos labelled AX1109 show...
An anonymous reader writes "A team at NIST (the National Institute of Standards and Technology) used berylium ions, lasers and electrodes to develop a quantum system that performed 160 randomly chosen routines. Other quantum systems to date have only been able to perform single, prescribed tasks. Other researchers say the system could be scaled up. 'The researchers ran each program 900 times. On ...

Not posting this as arcane scientific stuff - usable power might actually be available from the capacity of trees to concentrate soil minerals. Hey, maybe that 90V at 10 mA tube regenerative set's B+ could come from a tree out there in the woods ! I think they only used Pt electrodes to minimize contact potential error; probably any inert electrode such as silver would work for actual power ...

In the chemical cell, chemical energy directly into electricity through the battery is carried out within the spontaneous oxidation, reduction and other chemical reactions the result of the reaction were carried out in two electrodes. Negative active material from the more negative potential and a stable reducing agent in the electrolyte composition, such as zinc, cadmium, lead active metals ...

The different standards required for meats to be kosher or halal would mean that they follow the kind of standards you people want for you animals. Things like good living environment before slaughtering. no violent or painful forms of killing (electrodes, 'sawing' lines, etc.). When it comes to the skinning, thats a different topic though, so let's keep that out of the discussion. Any comments?

oh, thanks for that answer. that's what i was trying to find out, i didn't know about the minimum of 30,000V/cm in air. that sounds like it could arc over and be quite dangerous. so just to be clear, if i get a 10mm diameter glass tube full of wine (say a test tube). i put some kind of electrodes (steel plate or whatever) on opposite sides and connect the electrodes to a 600V, 3kHz AC ...

QUOTE (AndyMo @ Nov 25 2009, 08:01 PM) Andy's Ongoing Onzen (and other) Issues We purchased an Arctic Spa Yukon in mid-July. After first 3 months of having the tub we have had: - 3 Onzen units (now on "version 7.0") - 2 pumps (high speed capacitor blew up) - many filter replacements - drained the tub 4 times - used about a hundered test-strips (reading 0 bromine each time). ...
