Using your MacBook

When I had to go to replace my macbook's fan I unfortunately had to rip the black felt tape (the tape ifixit explicitly states not to rip) holding the fan to the vent area covering the heatsink. The vent and fan 'duct' do not line up without something holding them together. I was curious if anyone would believe it to be a bad idea to use electrical tape to bridge this area where the ...

Hello, Earlier in the month I posted about my 2.0 MKIV having a Cyl. 2 Misfire under load. A tip I got was to wrap the metal plug boots with electrical tape, to maybe stop arcing. Well, I tried this tonight, and it did not work. Question is... Is it really safe to leave the tape on there? Seems like it would melt and cause all sorts of problems? Thanks Alex

So after bitching out USPS I got lokilola's saddle delivered, but sadly it did not fit. It was too narrow for the pony and too small for me. If anyone is interested in it it is a steal for the price and in fantastic condition. So once I accepted the fact that the saddle fit neither of us the roomie and I set off on the great wither tracing adventure. We've been talking to Cordia Pearson http...

Hopefully, the tape you used is somewhat transparent. I have heard of others using a piece of electrical tape with a pin hole in it.

I built one of these out of scraps, and here are my lessons learned: It matters where you pull on the lever, and how hard. I marked the sweet spot with a strip of electrical tape. I was getting occasional scratching of the rib from the tip of the lever (the business end) so ran a strip of electrical tape across it, and replaced it when it fell off or wore - 2x I think. I used ...

UL listed electrical tape is rated at least 105 C, and is fire retardant, including the adhesive. The only way it would turn into a gooey mess is if your overheating, or you have oil in your sparkplug holes; In either case you have bigger problems to worry about.
