I figure somebody in here will know this. I've been reading a bit on energy use at home, etc. So one thing I learned is the electric heating is really inefficient, something like only a third of the energy is converted to heat largely because of loss in the generation/transmission process. So oil or gas are much better ways to heat a house. So this begs the question why are electric cars ...

Has anyone used them? I have tendinitis/tennis elbow/golfers' elbow and I was thinking about getting one of these: They are not cheap though and they don't accept returns, so I wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with them.

This is a Gold Ultimate Care II with the element accessible from the front. I took the cover off and turned the dryer on. The element burned for a couple of minutes then shut off, stayed off for a few minutes and repeated the cycle. Any help?

I am hoping for some help here from the good peeps at DS. I suffer with Heart Disease and as such am on Blood Thinners. A a result (not to mention being thin and having never liked the cold) I feel the cold really badly. I live in an all electric flat, with rubbish storage heaters - one in my bedroom and one in my ...

looking to rebuild my interior and wiring loom pretty soon. the whole of the car is going for a minimal approach. at the moment i use it daily but am planning on buying another daily to run around in. anyway, i want to do away with the standard heating system in the r32 entirely. it just takes up too much space for me, is a waste of wiring and switches, and i want to blank off the hoses engine...

My son has just bought a 2 bed flat, that is heated by 4 night storage heaters that were installed 8/9 years ago when the block was built. There is no gas in the block. The EPC he was given states that the Energy Efficiency Rating could be improved from 57 to 76 by replacing the night storage heaters with new ones. The thing is, that I always thought night storage heaters were designed to ...

QUESTION: Dear Jim, We live in a cold climate where the winter temperatures can reach -25 Celsius (-13 Fahrenheit). Â We are planning to replace our old heat pump with a new one in the attic. (Our old heat pump has been causing leaks in our ceiling and walls in the winter and in the summer.) We obtained estimates from several heat pump dealers and all of them say that a backup electric ...

I need to buy an electric heater for my new apartment (room 200sq ft, bathroom 50sq ft). Electric heating will be the only type of heating available as there is no central heating, no gas, nothing but sockets. So, what kind of heater would you recommend, especially in terms of efficiency. (I know electric heaters are basically all a waste of money...). There are so many types such as ...

You don't get 100% of the energy from gas when you burn it. The most efficient gas furnaces are still not 100% efficient. There are also transmission costs for gas. Although you don't lose any of the gas during transmission it does require energy to move it through the pipelines. There are electrical energy losses in transmission but you do get 100% of the energy out of the electricity that ...

So I replaced the fuse in the switch for the boiler and they started working again then 2 days later the same problem.I notice that the red light does not come on for the switch though. It seems if I keep changing the fuse they work but then goes again, Could it be the main ...
