I see a lot of people here put House of Usher, Masque of the Red Dead, The Tell-Tale Heart and other Poe adaptions in their top lists. Poe is one of my favourite authors, I have read most of his stories. However, I have avoided most of the film adaptions. I don't know why, perhaps I fear to get disappointed. So my main question now is if these films works if you have read the novels first? Also...

Didn't he write "Come Little Children"? I love that poem and think he is a genius (yes we all know he was a bit odd in the head) but why is it that my mom bought me, "The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe" yet I cannot find it in there?

I'm not sure if this has been posted on the boards but... Go see NEVERMORE...AN EVENING WITH EDGAR ALLAN POE at the Steve Allen Theater in Los Angeles! Jeffrey Combs is nothing less than sensational and amazing as Edgar Allan Poe. Written by Dennis Paoli. Directed by Stuart Gordon. This production (and its actor) was one of the most satisfying to see and experience of my life....

I'm writing a literary analysis on Edgar Allan Poe's "The Bells". There are four stanzas... each about a different period in his life... Does anyone have any idea about what the third stanza is about? " III Hear the loud alarum bells - Brazen bells! What a tale of terror, now, their turbulency tells! In the startled ear of night How they scream out their affright! Too much ...

Hi hpooh! I agree about Gordon's "Black Cat". I really liked this. It did capture the time and mood of a Poe story. Combs was awesome!! This has to be my second favorite MOH episode, first is "Incident on and off..." Now I'm gonna show you what I already know.

I saw this superb show back in August and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I happened to be there on the night when a certain celebrity (along with a friend) sitting center something like six rows back decided to get up in the middle of the performance and walk out about two-thirds of the way through the show. That alone was disruptive enough, but after the show he and his friend were ...
