I would like oponions, comments, etc.for the Wilson Combat CQB Elite and the Ed Brown Executive Elite. Which is the better buy? I will carry it and use for competitive shooting.

So, I'm wanting to purchase an EB 1911 (a "carry" model) and I can't decide which one. Ed Brown's aren't popular enough to go to the local shop and just pick one up and play with it. How did you all decide which model to purchase? I guess I should say hello since this is my first post and that I am a 1911 fan, mostly Colts. I'll try to add a poll Edit-I know the differences ...

From the looks of the custom add on's list Ed Brown has - it seems that one could add a light rail to any model for an extra $100. I've seen the SF model with a rail. Anyone ever seen a Kobra model with a rail? Anyone have one?

What in the world is this? I was looking on Gunsamerica for a project gun (as some of you know) and I ran across this. No worries. It is sold. It is an Executive Target with a squared trigger-guard. And no, it isn't an early model from the full-custom days. It has a Brown marked frame. It sold for not too bad of a price, but that trigger-guard would have been a killer for me holster ...

I need a new slide stop for my Kimber Stainless II. I shortened the shaft on mine to be level with the frame and now that I have my Kimber .22LR conversion, I wish I hadn't. I was looking at the Wilson Bulletproof slide stops, Wilson claims that it is a drop in part, no modification required IF the 1911 in question is properly built. So that said, do they drop into Kimbers ok? What...

My friend has EDed Brown and is planning to apply to UC. But she noticed that Brown's ED policy is like you shouldn't apply to other early programs. In this case, can she apply to UC? Is UC's deadline a regular admission one? Thanks!!

Well, I ended up going with the Ed Brown Hardcore stainless slide stop. It was $20 dollars less then the Wilson even after the LEO/MIL discount I get from Brownells so I figured why not give it a try. EB makes just as good of parts as Wilson, maybe not at well advertised but the quality is there. The part fits a LOT tighter. Completely drop in. Same over-sized pin style as the Wilson ...
