I can see if you looked like Gabriel Iglesias or something, but no, they're always wicked skinny. I'm like, are you blind or retarded...which one is it. I'll never get eating disorders, but I suppose that's a good thing.

I consider myself a feminist. I believe that a person's body is their own business, that a woman's worth is not defined by her looks (nor a man's neither, but the pressure of culture is heavier on women still). I believe that the idea that a woman should be "small" or "delicate" in order to fit the ideal of "femininity" is terribly old fashioned nonsense worthy of much air quotage and scoffing....

Researchers spoke to more than 600 16 to 25-year-olds suffering from anorexia, bulimia or overeating. Black Women and Eating Disorders: 'Not All Black Girls Know How to Eat' Stephanie Covington Armstrong's mellifluous voice does not reveal the pain that once took up residence there. She speaks with the confidence of a woman who is comfortable in her own skin and doesn't care what other people think. That wasn't always the case. The cover of her new book, 'Not All Black Girls ...

Quote: from anc8469 at 9:01 am on Nov. 27, 2009 I said that too. Then the pressure of trying to be perfect gets in the way. I've learned that its just a game playing with your mind. Once you loose what you want loose lets say 4 pounds. Well, then you just tell yourself, "I bet 5 more pounds, then I would look great"! You don't get what an eating disorder is until you have one. ...

I wouldn't call myself a feminist but I believe universally that women's bodies are their business and everyone deserves a right to feel sexy. I've been abused and humiliated in ways that should be considered illegal by people who call me a "fat queer lesbian feminist pig" just because I believe that women deserve to feel comfortable and beautiful no matter what their body type. I am not a ...

"Do you have any experience of bullying and eating disorders?" Mine wasn't caused from bullying...but I know some people who developed ed's after being bullied. "Or do you think body image has more to do with people developing illnesses such as bulimia and anorexia?" I think control has more to do with it than body image. People with eating disorders feel like whatever situation is ...

chelc - You are not alone in dealing with a changing ED and ED behaviors- it seems it is not at all uncommon. I know how exhausting and confusing it can be try to figure out want and when to eat because it's hard to change and learn how to eat 'normally.' It takes time to reconnect with your hunger and food preferences, etc, and trauma can cause a disconnect with the body that makes the task...
