My parents are extremely toxic, negative, and dysfunctional people. I'm an only child. The background is long and painful and involves psych wards, firearms, and emotional abuse, just for starters. Thanks, ladies. I've decided to let my ex take the kids to see his parents for a few days right around Xmas, then during that time I will fly out to see my aunt and her family in Chicago. That way I don't feel completely cut off from my family. It may sound very selfish but I would help my family, friends, church and own community before reaching out to others. I don't even have enough bandwidth to help out my own. I do however feel heart pain for the young toddlers abused, beaten and killed - what a waste and tragedy.
