I've got a chance to get a duratec engine out of a 98 taurus to put in a 99 taurus dirt cheap, only problem is the 98 which the engine would come out of has a computer key to start it and the person that has it doe NOT have the key only a dummy key so he can't start it. ANyone know how I can get the engine started so I can hear it run before buying and going thru all the work of swapping engines...

I want to boost my duratec 2.0. I want to do a DIY kit with Tom's tune. I don't know what all parts I'll need. Alot of people are telling me to use an EVO III turbo but I'm unsure what manifold to get. Also, what size injectors to get. How bad would an ebay intercooler kit be? And how hard is it to fab up all the piping? Thanks.

I heard today by a friend that the duratec from the svt contour are yamaha engines? I tried researching but I didn't see any of this, where did these engines originate? and also how exactly does the svt variable valve timing work? thanks!

Went and looked at a motor for my focus today, just wondering how to tell a Duratec from a Zetec. The owner couldn't tell me much, just that it came out of a '04 Focus (his son said '05). If you're looking at it with the tranny on the right, the intake sits on the side closest to you, with the exhaust on the firewall side. Valve cover had a sticker that said 2.0... any other details I can add,...

I have possibly found a duratec engine out of a 98 taurus to swap into the 99 taurus. The question I have is that the donor car has a chipped key for the ignition, would this have any affect on the engine swap??? I am thinking no since the chipped key would be related to the security system, am I thinking correctly. I possibly could get the engine wiring harness if need be with it. any ...

Alright, just got a phone call from a friend that can supply me with a 2010 3.5L Duratec engine out of an Edge. Freakin' thing has 230km, not even broken in yet ! Best thing is I can have it for dirt cheap. I tackled a full 3.0L swap a few months ago and it went really smooth so I was wondering what I should know before making my decision on this 3.5L ? Are cheaper chips good?
