I will soon be flying out of Sky Harbor on Delta to Bozeman. My duffle bag (soft-sided, squishy) is larger than 62". Never crossed my mind when I bought it for this trip that it might be "oversize" baggage. I am wondering how closely they monitor dimensions of duffle bags. It won't even come close to 50 lbs. (all clothing inside), and maybe if not packed fully it won't look ...

I will be flying on Delta to Bozeman in January to begin my Yellowstone trip. I have a large duffle bag, packed with clothes only, that is larger than the 62" allowed. This is a squishable, soft-sided duffle that I selected because it weighs less empty than the other bags I have. How closely does Delta monitor the dimensions of duffle bags? Any suggestions? ...

I will be flying Alaska Airlines to Anchorage with a large duffle bag. The bag will be under 50 lbs, packed with clothes only, but the dimensions are larger than 62". Of course, if it is not packed fully then the height will be less..... How closely do airlines monitor the dimensions of duffle bags? The oversize fees are $50 one way, and I sure would like to ...

OK, got it figured out, thanks to the help on TA. Going to compress what I can with those vacuum-seal "Space Bags" and then use the luggage straps to compress and reshape the duffle. Spent $20 on those items to save $200 on oversize bagge fees! Thanks for all the suggestions!

OK--got the duffle dilemma figured out, thanks to the suggestions on TA. Going to compress what I can in those vacuum-seal Space Saver bags, and then I will use luggage straps to further compress and reshape the duffle. Spent $20 on those items to save $200 on oversized luggage fees! Thanks for all of the ideas!

OK, so now I am considering compressing the duffle to keep it within the 62". My first thought was to use bungee cords, but they would expand. Anybody have any ideas of what to use?

You just have to get your pictures online - lots of people use photobucket, but any online photo will do. Then when you post here on Dancemom, click on the little picture of a mountain, and paste the copied properties in between these two words that will appear:[IMG][/IMG]. PM me if this doesn't make ...
