My buddy wants to make a character (Pathfinder Alchemist) focusing on the Alchemist poison crafting abilities. I've always considered poison-making to be a bit wasteful, as it's a one time use item that costs a large bit of money to affect a single target, to a variable degree. I don't really want to ruin the idea for him, but I'd also like him to be aware of the amount of time and money ...

Well, actually on the kitchen floor. My cat is diabetic, and I just bought a new vial of insulin last week (it usually lasts 7-8 months). I was getting ready to give her a shot this morning, and the vial slipped out of my hand and broke, argh! I called the vet pharmacy, but they have to count it as a refill, even though I just bought it last week. ...

I just graduated from college last may. so that makes like 6 years or something... we never really kept track ...

Just as I suspected, the vet won't authorize a stand-by refill unless I bring Snickers back in and spend upwards of $175 on tests that aren't needed, because I test her blood sugar at home. I left the vet a not-so-nice VM, telling him that since he wouldn't authorize a refill, and didn't appear willing to work with me, I'd be looking for another vet....

Poison: it's a save-or-suck/die effect you have to pay for every time you use it, and you have to make a "too dumb to live" poison yourself check. Does Mr Wizard have to pay and run the risk of death every time he casts his save-or-(w/e)? And that is why poisons by RAW in D&D really aren't worth it.
