Hi I want to try cutting dovetails by hand and have been reading everything I can find. Some people cut the tails first and others the pins. I was just wondering what the consensus is here. Many thanks

Well I have finally decided to purchase a Veritas dovetail saw and try cutting dovetails by hand. I would appreciate some advice on a couple of things. 1) I thought I would also buy 1 or 2 dovetail chisels and wondered what are the most popular sizes and brands. 2) I thought I would buy a book. I am considering "The Complete Dovetail" available from Lee Valley or Rob Cosman's. Any advice ...

The Dovetails are Low Profile Novak. The numbers under the slide are usually the last 3 of your frame. THe 2 piece FLGR should be torque a little but its best to just use some blue loctite. I have a Loaded model and I swaped the 2 piece for a 1 piece FLGR. The letters and number on the channel in the slide I think are part number and possibly date of manufacturing but I am not 100% sure. The...

A reset is a reset , dovetails are not any harder than a mortise and tenon , and vise versa True bolt ons that taylor uses are easy to reset .
