I have a self made system with an Intel D975XBX2 motherboard. It has a coaxial digital output which I always had connected to a Pioneer receiver that is capable of DTS and Dolby Digital up to 5.1. When the Pioneer receives a 5.1 Dolby Digital signal it displays "Dolby Digital" on the front display, which is the case when it receives such a signal from the Blu-Ray player (connected using the...

Hi, I'm a big movies fan. I was so excited to get the Zune HD feature on my Xbox 360 and how disappointed I was when I found out that 3 of the main things that I were looking for are not available on the French Zune store Xbox live: 1. Original version (English at least) or let the user be ...

I have the new Alienware m15x & am trying very, very hard to get Dolby Digital 5.1 output. I have searched hours on Google & spoken w/ premium ($50/incident) Dell tech support to get Dolby Digital output. They told me that I couldn't use the headphone jacks but needed to use the DisplayPort output. So I go & get a new Sony receiver, plug the DiplayPort from the laptop out to my new Sony ...

According to the cover it is in Dolby Digital 5.1 (as well as True-HD) in English. However, I cannot understand how to access that via the menu. If I select 5.1 True-HD my receiver won't process it in DD5.1, and all the other English versions are for audio description or directors commentary. My receiver automatically falls back to DD2.0, which I can seet to Dolby Pro Logic, but that isn't ...

Its okay, it was a setting that I couldn't get at initially. I use a HTPC running ArcSoft's Total Media Theatre. I had to alter the audio settings WITHOUT actually playing a disk to access to "auto mixing enable" tick box. Trying to access it with a disk playing wouldn't allow access to the setting, but once it was made Dolby TrueHD->Digital 5.1 downmixing worked fine and I can play my blu-ray...

DDL is needed only for digital (SPDIF) connections, as uncompressed 5.1 audio can not fit over a SPDIF connection (ie, the signal must be encoed in either DD or DTS formats). Hence, SPDIF can only get 2.0 audio unless DDL/DTS-C is used. If you use analog (or HDMI), then this tech means nothing whatsoever (unless for some reason you want all audio converted to a DD stream...) Basically, if a game...
