Setup: - HP HDX 16T-CTO1200 - HP Notebook Dock XB4 - RCA Dolby Digital 5.1 Stereo Receiver - The digital signal is connected to the receiver from the dock via S/PDIF. In the IDT HD Audio software when I click the bubble "Enable Dolby Digital Live" it blips to green but then goes back to grey. Further in the Windows 7 (64-bit) sound properties under the "Advanced Tab" I cannot ...

From what I've read, no PC game is programmed to produce a Dolby encoded bitstream via its own software - this is a separate and independent encoding function of your soundcard known as "Dolby Digital Live". Now, since "Dolby Digital" is a compressed and "lossy" digital audio format I'd like to know how much information is lost (if any) during this encoding process, or otherwise altered from...

I've finally finished putting together my HDTV gaming PC (will do a write-up about the process soon) and the one thing I can't figure out is how to set up my sound properly. I've got an Asus Xonar D1 7.1 soundcard hooked up to a 10-year-old Pioneer 5.1 receiver via optical. The main reason I got the card was to get Dolby-encoded 5-speaker surround sound from PC games, and the card had Dolby ...

Dolby Digital Live, Asus Xonar, and 5.1 Upmixing: How does this work? I've finally finished putting together my HDTV gaming PC and the one thing I can't figure out is how to set up my sound properly. DDL is needed only for digital (SPDIF) connections, as uncompressed 5.1 audio can not fit over a SPDIF connection (ie, the signal must be encoed in either DD or DTS formats). Hence, SPDIF can only get 2.0 audio unless DDL/DTS-C is used. If you use analog (or HDMI), then this tech means nothing whatsoever (unless for some reason you want all audio converted to a DD stream...) Basically, if a game...

won't give you 5.1, for that, you need the Creative Dolby Digital Live/DTS Connect pack for X-Fi, which is around $4 then just enable your encoding solution (DDL or DTSC) and you'll have 5.1 via S/PDIF for games for movies, the card can already do S/PDIF passthrough, meaning AC-3 and DTS audio tracks in 5.1 can be passed untouched by the card along to your receiver for decoding, ...

Hi, I'm a big movies fan. I was so excited to get the Zune HD feature on my Xbox 360 and how disappointed I was when I found out that 3 of the main things that I were looking for are not available on the French Zune store Xbox live: 1. Original version (English at least) or let the user be ...
