Distressed - Topic profile

We've settled on a solid 3/4" hickory pecan "distressed" or "rustic" style. It's not smooth, but it's also not scraped. I'm wondering how this changes installation (and possibly cost). I know that usually when you install the floor, then you put wood filler over it to go into the seams(?) but I obviously don't want wood filler going into the dings and dents of the "distressing" so I assume ...
