Are there any tours of the distillery in Bassano del Grappa? My husband loves grappa and I'd like to do more than just visit the museum. We'll be staying in Venice in May and I thought the town is close enough for a day trip. Thanks.

There is a neglect case in my area that the guy says he is "just trying to save their lives" he feeds very sick (snotty noses, eyes, coughing) and extremely thin horses distillery slop and old moldy hay. He got rid of them real quick when they were noticed by the public. He sent them back to his "associates" that he was holding them for, known kill buyers. I am trying to get more proof that he ...

"...The true perversion, however, took place back in Australia, where Philips convinced a cadre of winemakers to age some of their most promising juice in used whiskey barrels, sourced from Julian Van Winkle, proprietor of the Pappy Van Winkle Distillery in Kentucky." Wine Meets Whiskey

We have a nice Absinthe from the Jade Distillery in Orleans, France. This is the Suisse Verte absinthe (my favorite). The absinthe is a nice golden-green colour with a sugar cube on the absinthe spoon. Ice cold water is poured over the sugar cube into the glass resulting in a nice "louche" as the absinthe changes colour to a nice light greenish-white opalescence. A very enjoyable drink....

Got a little distillery that's eager to put out New York's first bourbon since Prohibition. Anybody have any idea of any distilleries making bourbon in New York pre or post Prohibition? Or maybe some ideas of how to search out any info beyond a basic Google search? Pretty exciting little project to be working with.

I am working on cataloging some warehouse receipts from the 1940's. They are interesting because they show the barrel proof's of the whiskey in the barrels. In order to keep proofs moderated in aging whiskey, would it make sense to replace the angel's share with water? Would this prevent really old barrels from getting dry, leaking and ending up empty? Is there anything that prohibits this? Is there a financial incentive to the distillery not to? Does anyone think that a distillery might be doing this to get/keep low barrel proof and being able ...

Quote: Do you have a picture of the original Frankfort plant? I don't think I've ever seen one. The Elkhorn Forks plant now looks very modern, but it wouldn't surprise me if this building is on that property somewhere. It could be in Louisville, but I'm guessing Frankfort. It was the same company, just two different sites.
