ive got an old Giant rinecon looks like this but red i really hate the stock brakes. and im thinking about swapping over to disc brakes. stock brakes get very spongey on all my downhills. and they are generally a pain to setup cause they require constant adjustment to keep from rubbing. is it an easy (or worthwile) upgrade to switch to discs?

Hi Can I fit Porsche 944 discs to 1963 early spindles? If not can I swap my early spindles for late spindles. If the Porsche brakes are a non-starter are there any other disc options. Please do not suggest retaining the drums and I do wish to adopt the Porsche stud pattern. Thanks

Hey, Im looking at buying a later model donor f100 so I can convert mine to discs. In the US I'm fairly sure Disc front end became standed on the 1973+ models but here we've got a few with drums (73/4 models) So when did they become standard here? Cheers, Alex

A discussion on CrazyGuyOnaBike.com has one camp claiming that disc brakes shorten spoke life enough to eliminate the seeming advantage in rim life discs bring. Any opinions here?

Hi, I am relatively new to biking so forgive me if I don't know a whole lot! I have a Mongoose Tyax Elite 2009, and the brakes have always sucked on it (some Promax rubbish). Anyway, not more than a week after I got it the rear brake started squealing.. 6 months on it sounds terrible and they don't stop me all that well anyway. I know from reading reviews about my bike that the ...

I reckon it's about 12kg with pedals, but I've never really weighed it. It was the spec for the original 2009 price that sold it to me! 2009 Giant Anthem X2 2009 Cube LTD Race

Hi, Subject says it all really.. I am looking at buying either the Avid 2009 Code 5 disc brakes or the Avid Elixir CR brakes (don't know what year the Elixir CR one is though). I'm just getting the one 160mm for the rear. They're pretty much the same price where I'm looking and I'm not sure which one to choose. I'm leaning towards the Code 5's because I have a feeling that the ...

Hello, I am using Shimano BR-M416 cable disc brakes and have a problem whereby they will loosen themselves on a wet ride to the point where pulling the brake levers have no affect at all. It doesn't take very long applying the brakes before all stopping power is lost. I have had this problem since I purchased the bike 6 months ago. At first I though this was the cable stretching or ...
