Today I was showing my dad my recent work under the hood and we noticed a small hollow cylinder underneath my intake. I immediately thought that I must be missing a dipstick from my transmission. Do our cars have transmission dipsticks? If so then I am correct right? I am guessing this happened because I have have my tranny serviced at my local Honda twice. What is my best option at this ...

Choclate milk on dipstick, no sign when drained oil O.K. my dip stick was completly covered in heavy chocalate milk looking sludge, overheated just a bit, and I started smelling anti-freeze in the cab. So I could see where oil and coolant had been seeping out around head gasket, and oil from around the valve cover gasket. ...

New dipstick with new o-ring. Kind of a dumb question, but how far in is it supposed to go? I thought I had mine in all the way, but put a few quarts of fluid in in and I've got a heavy drip coming back out. Leaking out of the kickdown cable hole as well. Any suggestions?

Today I went to check the oil on my car and when I lifted the dipstick up, the top half of it broke off. So I have the top half out and the rest of the plastic top is inside the dipstick tube. The earliest I can get it repaired is in two weeks at the dealer. Do you think that this can cause a fire since there is no top on the tube now? I'm afraid to drive the car now because I dont want the oil ...

First of all, i did search and had no luck and I know Prelude is famous for oil burning. Well, my 01 prelude has two dots on the oil dipstick and i have no idea what it mean. My guess is the dot #1 is stand for Full and the dot #3 is stand for Low, correct me if I'm wrong. Well, i have an oil changed as 82,000 and oil level on the dipstick is at dot #2 (filled with 5qt) and now it at ...

If the oil dipstick is warped (twisted around and around, like a giant curly fry) does this mean that the engine overheated at some point? Maybe just got close? I'm assuming it's warped because all other dipsticks that I've seen are perfectly straight, something has got to be wrong. What is it???

Hey guys, 02 7.3 auto trans, 4r100. I pulled the dips stick to check the fluid level, and when I got to the end there was a line of black.....oil/grease. It seems like more like old grease than oil....I will try to get a pic in the morning. The line was on the side of the fluid level indicator that rested on the dip stick tube. Going to do a trans service too it anyway, it was due. My ...

Hello. I own a 2005 Tundra. Like every 2005 and 2006 Tundra Owners , we do not have a transmission dipstick for checking fluid level. After looking through some of the TS threads on fluid change and issues of the many inconveniences of not having a transmission dipstick. Obvious question ......... Does anyone know if there is a factory plug or access port that is not being...

I just learned the name of the rectantular square box on the driver's side of motor right behind oil dipstick. I removed this when cleaning my ICV to get it out of the way, and learned that the flap in mine is loose from the shaft it sit's on. It looks like the shaft snapped, and what i'm trying to figure out is whether this flap should be open or closed at idle or ...

Was scrolling through your online store and noticed you don't have anything listed for the Dakota in the under hood department, yet quite a few of the fluid caps you have for the Charger will work on the Dakota as well. I know the dipstick t-handle, windsheild washer reservoir cap, low pressure A/C cap, brake fluid cap, and I think maybe even the powersteering cap will work on the Dakotas.

Car is a TD5 landrover discovery, the header tank is full of an oily gunge and the engine oil on the dipstick is suddenly very low, also the heater is now only blowing cold air. Is this definately a symptom of a blown head gasket? or could it be something else? Have asked on the landie forum but few replies at the moment so thought i'd ask on here as well. cheers.

I think my shop is haunted. I put down a tool or a part and it isn't there when I need it. It obviously has moved to some other location and I waste lots of time looking for things. It will be interesting to see where my engine oil dipstick was moved to. Things like this never happend 40 years ago - so either its the global warming thing, or is my shop haunted? Any one ...
