I have lights in my house, they are three connected to 2 switches, one switch is a dimmer, one normal. I've been looking at the cost of dimmable low energy bulbs and the cost of them and the fact they use far more power than the normal LE bulbs, makes me wonder if I should just change the dimmer switch for a normal one. That should then sort out any problem and I can use normal bulbs from then...

Hi, I'd like to add a dimmer switch that can be controlled with my universal remote. The switch controls 6 incandescent bulbs, 75 watts each. I do not have neutral wires in the switch box. My understanding is that I cannot use Insteon switches because they require the neutral wire, so this leaves me with an X10 solution of something like the ws12a switch and the ir543 controller. I just got this receiver and am having some trouble using the dimmer button on the remote. If the receiver is set to CD and I turn it on and press the dimmer button on the remote nothing happens. But if I switch to say PHONO it works. I know the intstructions say something about the dimmer button having no effect on VIDEO 1 and VIDEO 2.

I want to add a lite dimmer to several rooms....I removed the switch plate in a b.r.and the switch is "back-wired" with 2 silver? wires. There are no copper wires that I used in a previous home which just wrapped around a screw. The 2 wires that are there are not really flexable, they are just stuck into the holes on the switch. My question is...can I an inexperienced housewife add this dimmer ...
