I recently purchased a HDTV with a digital optical audio output. I am NOT interested in a complex theatre audio system. I only want to be able to comfortably drive two existing stereo speakers. Is there an inexpensive amplifier that can haandle this without all the other bells and whistles ?

Hello, I've tried searching forums but have come up short: I have a Bose Lifestyle (18 maybe? I can't find the number). It doesn't have HDMI hookups, but it does have Digital Optical In and Out. basically as title, is there any difference in the end quality if I use the realtek onboard audio via optical as opposed toa dedicated solution through optical. It seems to me that the audio decoder is doing the work and then it's the same digital information going to the speaker set. Does an optical cable have the ability to both send and receive data? Specificaly I'm buyinh the tritton 5.1 headset for my xbox and was hoping a single optical cable could both deliver audio to the cans and send audio from my mic.
