Bought a 1.9 Volkswagen Golf engine for my boat (currently have a 1.6) and I need to rebuild it. I am looking for two things in the Greater Toronto Area and surroundings: - Someone's garage or workshop or barn where I can take the engine apart and put back together. Need only electricity and will work on the weekend only. Will bring own propane heater, so heating will not use hydro. - A ...

Dear all, Although Saab recommend fully synthetic engine oil for my car, a good chat with the main dealer service department today has given me food for thought. He stated that as my car had done a fair few miles (131k), a semi-synthetic oil would be better, as when it reaches operating temperature, it would keep its viscosity, as opposed to fully synthetic, which becomes similar to a water like...

Up for sale is a 1986 Toyota 2L diesel engine, pulled from a 4WD pickup. The mileage is unknown. It's probably rebuild-able, but that needs to be determined by a machine shop. History- The engine had been locked up and sat for some time, then eventually pulled, dismantled and has sat in covered storage for the last few years. All the parts are there to put it back together, but no ...

Contemplating the idea of a rear/mid engine buggy with a 4 or smallish 6 cylinder diesel engine, but cant seem to find if there are any that are reverse rotation. Not totally opposed to flipping the axles, but would like to look at the option of a reverse rotation first.

does anyone have a definitive answer on what engine oil a diesel JK should have, because i am confused. The owners manual states (p147): with DPF = 5W-30 fully Synth without DPF = 0W-40 fully Synth Which sounds odd to me, in my (somewhat limited) understanding i would expect the DPF vehicles to require better oil so the DPF has less to filter out and therfore a longer life, but maybe...

Hello Looking for some advice here from either a mechanic or diesel mechanic. The head gasket/head is blown/cracked on my old man 2.8 litre toyota hilux. I have changed 4 head gaskets in my life from 180's to falcons but have never touch a diesel motor. How much different is it and what else is involved in changing a head gasket on a diesel motor? All help and advice greatly appreciated...

Sell it or scrap it, I can't decide. I have a dusted JD 4045 engine complete in the garage. Its out of at forklift from work. It had a leaking air filter, so it probably just needs rings. I had intended to cut it up in sections for a training aid. But that was like 4 years ago..... Its complete ECM, harness, flywheel for automatic trans, everything but the turbo. Would this be something the ...

Saturday at 3:00 PM CT on the Science Channel TV program "Some Assembly Required," about a third of the program is on manufacture of the BMW Diesel engines. I saw it a while back and it was interesting, although in the program they seem to switch between different engines during the process, and talk as if it is one engine going through the process.

My mother drove into a fairly deep flood a few days ago in her one year old diesel engine VW. The engine cut out, and a couple of hours later, the car was towed away to a garage. The engine was flooded, the car itself was not flooded though, as the shell is waterproof The engine wont start since, there may be quite a bit of damage to the engine, we're not sure how much damage though A ...
