Torco fuel additive is the real deal and no it won't hurt...Torco fuel additive is the real deal and no it won't hurt your car at all. It raises octane as advertised. However keep in mind that raising octane beyond what your engine actually requires to avoid detonation will actually reduce performance. Chris

It would seem that the 'S' has suffered a case of moderate tp severe detonation. I was driving with good spirit recently until I noticed some power loss. Nothing sudden or severe. In any case, I pulled off to the side of the road. The engine stalled as I let off the throttle and let the revs fall. Upon restart, the engine started more slowly and the engine had a strange noise to it. (Compressed...
What shows first or is most likely to be directly tied to major trouble if a car goes lean? Detonation or exhaust temperature?? If an engine has detonation what frequency does the noise show up most noticeably at? Is it ultrasonic or some lower pitch? Thanks! Tom

more possible ignition woes: ignition breakup or detonation? charts & datalogs inside So I finally got my new ignition coils, new cat converter, and new ignition wiring harness installed. So far I've been putting around to feel the car out. It definitely feels better than before replacing these parts, even ...

Detonation vs pre-ignition, and Four Corner Piston Scuffing While doing some research about an engine that went bad, I came across an article. This is copied and pasted on a hot rod website, but is originally from an aviation site. This relates to many discussions we have had here, and I REQUIRE (not recommend) that all people ...

so its time for my "dumb question of the day" for the forums, its the end of a long day working on my car, today i started her up and gave her a tune up, sounds pretty good but if i have the RPM's around 3500, as it goes back to idle speed i often get a bit of knock, however if i slow down how fast i go from 3500 to idle there's no knock. (i drove my car around the block for the first time in ...

Sorry if it's been suggested already. A lot of complaints about EMP, what about this "less dramatic" change: 1 second delay from detonation to when it takes effect. This means you would hear it go off, and you'd have 1 second to either turn off your suit or if you're near the edge of it's range, jump\boost out of range. The design purpose of the EMP as far as I can tell is to give ...

Where can I find an affordable vag-com reader? Ross Tech is pricey in the $300 range is there anything available for around half that? Specifically I would like to do some data logging once I install the Methanol Injection kit to avoid any detonation.

OK before you guys crucify me let me explain. I understand the benefits of meth injection. (Lower combustion temps, higher octane rating, decreased detonation, ability to run race maps). Now my question is that is great and all however on a stock engine you will approach a barrier of the max hp an engine can take. So if you have an engine that can handle say 600hp , and you currently ...

I had this in a different section that doesnt get seen as much so Im relocating it. I was reading about detonation and it talks about any sharp edges causing hot spots in the combustion chamber. Well these valve reliefs are all sharp edges. How does that design work??? These are CP pistons but I know other places do something similar. I was just wondering how thats not supposed to cause ...

so i just got a new motor in my car with .30 pistons ported head ferrera valve train balance shaft delete mild port on mani. so the car is showing that it is having early detonation in the third cylinder. stock supercharger stock tune stock injectors but 1 step colder plugs and 2.8 pulley. the cel flashes when the car starts to spudder then goes away then comes back on. what do you guys think

Detonation is GONE. The only thing that sucked was that the autoshop that I had it fixed at (action gator tire) had to fabricate a frankenstein type of hose that goes from the IC to the IC pump because they could not find a hose that would fit. The exit hole from the IC is an inch across but the entrance to the IC pump is 3/4 an inch across and they couldn't find a hose that fits that. They had a...

I have searched on here but really cant get a solid answer, Im currently putting down 421rwhp on 16psi of boost with no AI, PFS recommended for me to get a AI to help with detonation control and being that I want to get 500-600rwhp safely for those runs at the dragstrip... I wanted to know if the simple Aquamist 1s system will work for me... I normally drive ...

I always search for backup sources when Debka breaks a story... What a drag I would suggest that once you get your motor issue resolved and your AC working again. Invest in a water/meth kit. If you had one it could have saved your motor in this situation of your AC failing for what ever reason. The water/meth works so well in fact that I am able to run 9psi as well, but with the factory CT fpr and stock injectors, stock timing map etc. Anyone running ...
