Hi, is there a way to calculate a derivative of a function? For example I have this function in one cell: f(x)=x^2 and I want excel to automatically convert that function to the derivative (f'(x)=2x). It would also be nice, if there was a function, which could substitute a given value as "x" in the function formula and calculate the "y". Functions like: ...

Hi guys I have been wondering: Say we have a continuous function f . I integrate f to obtain its anti-derivative called capital f , i.e. F . Now I wish to prove the differentiability of F , and in order to do so, I need the fact that F is continuous (this is just something I need in my proof). Now, the problem is that I cannot deduce continuity of ...

hey, so can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I keep going over this question and can't find my mistake. anyways here it is. find the derivative of the following function f(x) = ln[(x^5)(x-1)^1/2] (5x^4)(x-1)^1/2 + (x^4)(1/2(x-1)^-1/2 (x-1)^-1/2[ 5x^4(x-1) + 1/2x^5] (x-1)^-1/2[5x^5 - 5x^4 + 1/2x^5] (x-1)^-1/2[11/2x^5-5x^4] ln (x-1)^-1/2[11/2x^5-5x^4]/(x^5)(x-1)1/2 so this is my answer...

1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data I have a problem that says: Find the directional derivative of C(x, y) in the radial direction at any surface point (x, y). It then says: Find the sharks approach path from any point (x0, y0) at the sea surface. I found the directional derivative in the radial direction, but how do I ...

The following snippet has been lifted from one of the papers that scientists complained about in those leaked emails (link: http://climatedebatedaily.com/southern_o… "To remove the noise, the absolute values were replaced with derivative values based on variations." You can use your pdf reader's search feature to view this in its full context, if you wish. Now, my question is:...

I'm trying to control a heating element by the difference between the user-set target temperature and the (absolute) extreme (user-set) temperature. I've considered testing for cases using first and second derivatives. From some reading, I've come across the idea of PID, but I can't view any working, accurate samples to even see if this is where I want to go. I'm in the planning ...

They should have worded it "negative revenue down" And the EPS is up only because they recorded the change in derivative and warrant liabilities as "other" income, so they could make the EPS look artificially high. Their EPS is derived from crediting negative shareholder equity, not from earnings generated through revenue! Is that even allowed under GAAP?
