I'm close to finishing a new build of a commuter bike with Dia Compe-style ratcheting downtube shifters, but the front derailleur return spring seems stronger than the ratchet/friction system in the downtube shifters. I shift up to the larger chainring, but the derailleur pulls/slips back toward the smaller chain ring. The derailleur is an FSA Gossamer compact double and the downtube shifters ...

A bit of advice needed. I am building up a SOma Double Cross and had a multi fit deore front derailleur. However, the derailleur ends up quite close to the 35mm tyre and leave no room for my fender. I figure I could get a road derailleur that are available in specific 28.6mm clamp size which I presume will allow a bit more clearance, or go for a low clamp version which would get the ...

After only 9 months of timid neighborhood biking, my expensive Deore 9 speed derailleur fell apart! On examination the long aluminum cage came off from the spring body at a very weakly flared stud.  The local bike shop said "about $100.00 to replace"!  I'm very unhappy.  Any advice, similar experience, Shimmano address for free replacement, fix-it suggestions? Shiftless without ...

Hello World.  (first time poster, here) So, I recently purchased a lightly used 2009 Trek 6000, and I love it.  However, I noticed one weakness in the rear derailleur... when setting the low (or high, can't remember) limit adjust, the portion of the derailleur body that the set screw makes contact with is plastic.  Bad design, imo (I know, it's a low end component)... this will ...

I'm planning to put a triple on my Longboard, and want to make sure I get the right front derailleur. So I'm wondering if anyone else has done that, and if so whether you used a top or bottom swing derailleur (high or low clamp). Thanks

While in my lowest gear (small ring front - biggest cog in back) the chain rubs on the inside of the front derailleur cage. Less than 7 months of usage and less than 1000Km of riding, and my relatively-new Campagnolo Chorus 11 front derailleur clamp was found broken earlier this week. I was 5 minutes into my ride when I realised I couldn't shift to my large chain ring. Upon inspection, I discovered that the clamp had broken just in the middle, facing North. The clamp is integrated (34.8mm) and cannot be ...

transition website says front der. size is 32.8mm. i've never seen a fd come in that size. is that a misprint or am i missing something? i've seen pics of people using fd's on their TransAM's and others using the N-Gear jump stop, both of which only come in standard sizes as far as I can tell. i didn't see any shims being used in these pics, hence my confusion. any help?

Ok I took a minor spill last week while making a right hand turn and going over some sand at around 15mph. Fell over on my right and took some scraps on my right knee and hip. I should fully heal in about two weeks. Yesterday while checking out my ride the rear derailleur looks like it also took a beating. I have a Trek 3700 and been riding really hard for a few years and want to get rid of the front largest sprocket and put a bash guard on is that possible. I will then remove the front derailleur(?) and all the cables just to make every thing less complicated. I am removing the third ring because it is bent and i don't use it. I only use the middle ring . So is it possible

I've had these sitting around, don't really know what they're worth. Make an offer, I'll be glad to get rid of them. Everything works as far as I can tell, I've used the Salsa seat post and XT derailleur but not the Atac pedals. They came with my bike and I took them off. Derailleur is 31.8mm diameter and the seatpost is 27.2mm diameter.
