Hi, What compact cameras would help to achieve photos with good depth of field/ pics with background blurred? Obviously low aperture is important (Pana LX3, Canon S90) but are there other cameras that would be better than above mentioned? I read that if you use zoom the aperture on the Canon increases to 3.8 or something near that... Would a camera with longer zoom at its lowest aperture ...

I've been looking at various popular DSLR lenses, and a lot of them have these narrow F ranges like f3.5-f5.5 or something (probably off by a few tenths but you know what I mean). And some with even smaller differences between the lowest and largest possible F number they can be set to. What I am wondering is: What is the numerically biggest F-number you can have on a lense and still get a ...

For some reason more and more people believe that shallow DOF and Bokeh mean the same thing. Is there a particular blog or school teaching that? Where is it coming from? http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html

I have an indoor horse jumping event coming up. I shot another for practice last week. I feel like I need a faster lens so I was thinking of renting the Canon 70- 200 F2.8. In looking at my pics though, I am allready seeing some DOF issues with a horse and rider coming straight at me for example. My question is - If I want to shoot at say F8, at a given amount of light will a 2.8 lens alow me...

Hey there! Â I doing a design using some extreme perspective and a very shallow depth of field. The standard 3D render engine can't handle the more extreme shots; it pops and flickers. But when I switch to the advanced 3D render engine, I get vertical lines in the image. It is not color banding (switching to 16-bit does nothing); it looks like the depth of field blur itself starts to band. ...

Hi  i've got a comp with 70 3d layers. They are all arranged in a grid in the x+z axes .Distance between each layer is 3600Px. The camera is parented to a null called"Cam_control".Basically,the camera flyies now to each 3d layer(which is contolled by the"Cam control" null) and animates around each layer(Camera's position, rotation keyframed).  ok,i'd like now that the focus point of the ...

Hi, I bought this Zacuto bridge plate to go with my Sony EX1 and Letus Extreme DOF kit. I have recently sold my camera due to the fact that I need the cash. The sad part is this kit was never used except for me setting it up once on camera to see how it works. It worked and looked great. You can mount a Mattebox as well as Follow Focus on it. Here is some more information on the kit. I ...
