We arrive in Cozumel on April 24th at 4.30 pm. Do we have enough time to travel to our hotel Playa Palms that day or should we stay in Cozumel for the night and take the ferry over the next day. Thanks for any help. Lori

Looking for advice on things like inexpensive cafes to eat in and which trips are worth paying for. Only there a long weekend so won't have much time to build up our own knowledge. Still haven't booked accommodation will do that just before we go (just to make sure we don't catch the dreaded flu).

We are planning a stay for a week at the Mayan Palace near Playa del Carmen and are wondering if it is too far from Playa Del Carmen to get local flavor. We are ok with some solitude but not isolation. Plus, we don't want to be locked into using local services that are price hiked because of location. We are thinking of making our vacation destination this coming summer to Playa del Carmen, Mexico rather than our normal Punta Cana . Has anyone been to both and what are your opinions? We will stay at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya...anyone have any suggestions? What about excursions or transportation suggestions. We would want a private or shared transport....

Can anyone comment as to which day of the week is best to make a trip into PDC? ie. are stores closed on Sundays or are there "once a week" events like street performances or markets? We will be at the Catalonia Playa Maroma in January - can't wait!!

We have been to Punta Cana twice(Riu Bambu(YUCK)and Majestic Colonial), and thus far have been to the RM three times(Dreams PA - when it was Sunscape and the Barcelo Maya Palace 2X).
