It seems that my rear window defogger has stoppped working as I can't feel the lines heat up nor did they melt any snow on the window this morning. I recently had the headliner replaced by the dealer as they made a mess of it during a water leak repair. I am thinking that they did not connect a wiring harness that controls the window defogger. Can anyone confirm that there is a separate ...

My son's 2001 MC SS rear window defogger isn't working now. The positive tab was knocked off and I soldered it back on. A couple of weeks later it was off again. This time I used the Loctite tab repair kit. Now, the tab is really stuck on but the rear window defogger isn't working. I measured the voltage across the pos and neg leads and it shows 14.8V. When it was soldered on the voltage ...

My 96 SL is equipped with a rear window defogger. It is functional, but seems very weak as far as defrosting the window goes. The defogger grids in my other vehicles seem to clear light frost away in a few minutes, but the Sat unit does not seem to have the power to clear even light frost. Does anyone else have this issue? Are the Saturn defogger grids that weak, or is there something wrong ...

The rear wiper and defogger don't work on my 95. I pulled and cleaned the wiper motor today. The wiper works when the rear hatch is up or when the rear hatch is down and the tailgate is down, but if the tailgate is up and the hatch is down (latched up ready for a drive) then the wiper doesn't work. I haven't tested the defogger yet, as I haven't had any fog. Anybody experience this?

My rear defogger seems to only be warming some of the lines.( I know the top part is the antenna). Right side almost 3/4 of them warm up but the left side has only one line in the center heating really strong. Also when I activate the rear defogger the radio reception goes from v.good to v.poor. Any idea's?. The rear window has never been cleaned on the inside so that would eliminate scratching ...

I'm trying to wire roof-mounted aux reverse lights and am looking to use the clip that goes to the rear window defogger, which is high up on the inside the tailgate window near the driver side hinge. It seems there is no power getting there, but the fuse is good and the switch light comes on when engaged - any ideas why there would be no 12V at the clip? Is there a mysterious inline ...

Hey guys and gals, I know that there are a few defogger threads out here. I tested the relay in my 1996 SC2. It's fine. I shorted the relay with a wire and the module works! It doesn't engage with a press of the button, however. What kind of electronics might be at fault? Will I need to replace the mysterious chime module? I will appreciate any pertinent schematics! A penny for your thoughts...

It would appear that the '86 911 (defogger relay p/n 911 615 115 00) is controled by the system voltage as opposed to the 993 models (defogger relay p/n 993 618 117 00) which has a 15 minute on/off cycle controled directly by the defogger relay. I find this to be a very unique (?) approach to the rear window defogger upper and lower element operating parameter(s). Subsequent to a ...
