Hi there. I have a 2008 standard server running as our gateway to the internet. All the computers are connected to a switch and pass through the server, on the other side of the server is a cable modem. About a month ago, youtube.com stopped loading. whenever the site was attempted it would goto a blank page where at the bottom it would claim it was trying to connect to "s.ytimg.com" ...

hello, I have a DHCP server configured with DNS server option which actually contains two or more DNS server IP addresses. Is there any way how to make the DHCP server issue the addresses in random order to each client (something like roundrobin) so that the clients are balanced between the DNS servers? thank you ondrej.

Hi! I have installed an oracle 11.2.0 database on my oracle enterprise linux 5.4 machine. When I configure a DNS server (public DNS servers from my provider) in the network settings (/etc/resolv.conf) it seems like the listener wants to resolve my hostname with the configured DNS servers. A connection from a client takes a few seconds. After removing ...

After some upgrading and some fresh installing 2010.0 on three machines (both i586 and x86_64) I found that some applications could not reach servers outside my home. This was after disabling IPv6 in the Network Center, and with static IP addresses as I have been using for years. Specifically, Pan and Evolution were unable to connect to news server and mail servers, respectively. Firefox, ...

Hey, So, since about a week ago, I have not been able to get online. I have a dell inspiron 1545 laptop, using Windows 7 and a dell 1397 wireless card. My computer is able to connect to the wireless connection, but I can’t actually get on the internet. When I run the diagnostics, it tells me that the “DNS server is not responding”…. Now I have called Dell tech support Several times (more ...

I am running a webserver from home and I need software for vista to handle domain names. Right now I am using Simple DNS Plus, but it is FAR to expensive. $379 will almost buy a copy of server 2008 which I would rather use over vista. Any recommendations?

When I connect to the VPN at work I want to be able to access internal machines by name. In order to do this I need my DNS to first query the DNS Server(s) handed out during VPN negotiating. Is there a way to instruct DNS to first query the VPN's DNS Server(s) and then query the regularly configured DNS Serves? More information: Publically, mydomain.com exists and DNS is ...

In Windows 7, under IPv4 Properties I had entered specific DNS server addresses, instead of obtaining them via DHCP. Now when I try to select "Obtain DNS server address automatically", this setting is not retained, but keeps changing back to the specific addresses, usually after several minutes. No matter what I do, I cannot get rid of the specific settings. Even if I overwrite the specific ...

I've upgraded my server to Windows 2008 R2 and the workstations to Windows 7. After a day or so, the workstations can't resolve host names anymore, this goes away if I restart the DNS service. The odd thing is that if I do a nslookup on the workstation it will resolve names, but ping or IE still can't resolve.

My various FB apps have stopped working with timeout errors. My server never receives a request from the FB servers. We recently changed the IP address of apps.socialagency.com to 174.129.232.32. I suspect that FB has cached the old DNS entry for longer than it should. It has always had a 1 hour TTL, so it shouldn't be cached like this. Can anyone help?
