Every forum ive read states there is a problem with coolant loss as the heads are prone to cracks/splits/head gasket failure. I have been told that a 998 cc head will fit a 1098 cc engine without any problems as there are more unleaded 998s about than 1098. However , if a 1098 gives better performance then I see little point in compromising this by going for the more readily available head. Has anyone found the solution to this when converting to unleaded?

This is my spare engine for my turbo 325i that's been waiting in my basement for awhile now. Its almost a complete M3 engine in low miles. It's the complete s50b30 block and 98 S52 head. Sorry no cams and trays The engine is ready to be drop. Its apart because my plan is to install a thicker head gasket. I don't think I will be needing this anytime soon. My ...

Following is elaborate bolt tightening sequence for Forester 2.5L SOHC cylinder head. Is this what all DIY'rs are using? 2) Tighten cylinder head bolts. (1) Apply a coat of engine oil to washers and bolt threads. NOTE: Bolts with pink marks on their bolts heads must be used for (c) through (f). (2) Tighten all bolts to 29 N·m (3.0 kg-m, 22 ft-lb) in alphabetical sequence. Then ...

I searched and searched. I picked up a 1994 G20 for 100 dollars. I put a transmission in it and it runs great. Only issue is it has some bad sounding lifters. I know it has been ran out of oil so i removed the lifters and bled them according to procedure. It didnt get any better. The head is a solid chunk of chocolate. I would like to just replace the lifters, have the head cleaned up ...

So the cylinder head gasket and cylinder head cover gasket are both 3-layer metal gaskets. However it appears from the old ones I took off that there was some kind of coating on them (maybe silicon?). Is this a ...

Hi guys, I picked up a 67 mustang with a 200 a couple months ago and the only problem I'm having with the motor is the oil pressure and flow into the head. I've pulled the distributor and turned the oil pump and it's pumping fine with good volume in the block, but it is not going up into the cylinder head. Where should I start? Thanks, Highz

Rebuilding 200 ci six and the supplied Fel-Pro head gasket (from set #FS 7916 PT-2) has irregularly shaped cylinder rings. They're not round, in fact some areas spread outward similar to some gaskets allowing for valves areas, but not all ring shapes are consistent. Brings into question effect on compression. Has anyone seen this before? Is this typical? No sign of damage or mfg. defect. Thanks ...
