I just bought a 14" cut-off from Harbor Freight, works great. Just got a Summit catalog in the mail with the same saw on the cover the only difference is the mine is orange and Summit's is blue and says MAKITA on it (same saws) The H.F. saw was $59.95 and the Summit saw is $159.95. I'm not raggin on Summit but that's a hundred bucks I can spend on hot rod parts. BTW, on ...

I am looking at metal cut off saws and need some help deciding. I was originally going to go with abrasive, but now I am thinking about going with something along the lines of the Dewalt DW872, or the Evolution RAGEII. Its it worth spending the money to get one that uses a tooth blade instead of abrasives? I know the blades cost more, but how long do they last? Thanks guys....

A true 1 HP motor produces 3 ft/lbs of torque at 1800 RPM, irregardless of how many amps it is drawing or what voltage it is being run at. Torque is proportional to speed, so that same motor running at 3600 RPM produces 1 1/2 ft lbs of torque. That same motor running at 900 RPM produces 6 ft/lbs of torque. That's why your drill press can go through more the slower it is running. If you have ...
