it's a long shot, but anyone using this on a mac? loving the cubase (apart from the crashes) but can i not ever get any instruments to appear in halion?? i can assign it as a vst instrument to a track but when i go to get any instruments from the main panel, which pops up fine, nothing is listed??? wtf?? i'm new to the world of the mac so it maybe that i've got something in the ...

Right now I'm studying with a music major in college and have to decide with which version of Cubase I should work. I could get Cubase Studio 4 for 200$ and Cubase 4 for 300$. Sure 300$ is not that much, but money is still tight right now and I don't know if I need all the extra stuff at this time. I just have to learn how to compose and produce music with a DAW. All acedemic versions are bought at full price. None upgradable that I know of. There's honestly not a lot of information to go on...there is certainly a laundry list of things only available with C4 (full)...but, whther they matter to you or not, who knows? just bought the above piece of software to replace garageband, but when i come to install my motu 828....no joy. can't find any mention of adding drivers to cubase anywhere, going by the tutorials etc it "should" appear in the audio in/out choices but it don't. any clues / experiences??

Hi there. I'm running Cubase Studio 4 on my 2.0Ghz Macbook. When the VST Performance window is open on my current 14 instrument track project, the ASIO bar idles about half way across, leaving no headroom for when the instrument tracks are played. This causing the music to stop and gutter when the ASIO bar hits it's limit. I've played around adjusting the Buffer size under ASIO Settings...

I am also considering whether to purchase studio or cubase 4 and apparently there is no input mixer meter available in Studio, so if you monitor your levels in the DAW you can only monitor once it is in the audio engine. Also I did a google search and managed to find a site with a very comprehensive list of missing features between Studio and 4, although I've lost the link....
