B737-800 (Spanish rego) nose-wheel collapse after heavy crosswind landing Tech Log Forum has a thread called Auto-throttle usage 737-700 where someone asks readers views on whether or not the auto-throttle should be switched off during manual flight. Buried among readers comments was a link to an accident at Shannon airport in Ireland which ...

So I picked up a used polished Crosswind Vortec intake this weekend. I overpaid at $75 but the outside was pretty clean and the guy needed some money (around he holidays I don't mind over paying a litle if I know the guy just needs the money). Anyway, I would just like to say that the quality of this intake is close to the worst I have ever seen. The outside was about a C, maybe C+, ...

This past week I landed in a 23-25 kt crosswind in a V35B. I would consider myself an "average stick" but arrived at KFTG, my home base, with winds at 350 23g30. Runway 35 was closed with 26 only available. I decided to try it with the mindset that at 10ft of altitude if it wasnt working out, I would go 10 mi to Kapa and leave the aircraft there. At 10 ft of altitude in the flare , i had the ...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=270506657 092 I just recently sold a Breitling Astromat and want a more rugged everyday watch. I wanted to make an offer on this watch, but was unsure of the authenticity. Especially since the seller does not have the box or papers. I really like the way this watch looks. Any advice? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I was looking for the Airbus briefing notes on landing on contaminated and wet runways but it appears to have been taken off the Airbus site. When friction co efficient or braking action is mentioned I understand the only limitation published in fcom 2 is crosswind. So technically, if braking action poor is reported we have no way of calculating landing distance unless they give us a full...

Ok it's Christmas, a time to reflect methinks! How far are we from fully automated flight for passenger jet transport operation? (I have my own views on this!). Will automation ever be able to land in crosswind components of 30 kts on a gusty day? Will passengers be happy to go flying in a fully automated aeroplane? How many of our passengers think it's all automatic already ...

Quoting Planemaker ( Reply 4 ): That is the reason that is always given by naysayers why it won't happen... but the reality is that there will alway be more than one human brain available to analyze problems and solutions from different viewpoints - the only difference is that one of the viewpoints would be on the ground. I quoted this early post as that is the answer. If ...

the gains made by compression are ofset by the conductance of the aluminum. You said yourself iron heads make more power. Fact of the matter is 500hp 383's have been done with worked over Vortecs, and not once but MANY times. I do agree that hitting 425hp is going to be tricky, but you can have close to 500ftlb on 87 octane. With the cams the OP selected it is quite apparent that low ...

Brian, you are quite right about the need to change vectors if you fly between two points at different speeds in the same crosswind. Here is a little thought experiment that puts this into an archery context. Two archers with identical skills and identical arrows but different poundage limbs shoot at the same time in a constant cross wind. One archer, with a high poundage bow shoots at a 90...

Two tips which may help some or all of you. Tip 1. Refers more to a twin than a quad. If you have an engine failure on the runway, on recognition, apply full rudder smoothly. Time is of the essence, you have probably displaced youself from the runway centre line and you are probably not pointing directly down the runway either. Application of full rudder, initially, is your best bet. If in ...
