I watched The Box and found myself think this has been done before, not the story, but the fear and terror of the main characters, but done far better. In 'Videodrome' and 'Eraserhead' both Cronenberg and Lynch showed they could make us scared at not knowing and never really understanding where the story was taking us and what would happen at the end. The Box just looks like a confused mess. ...

David Cronenberg is a Canadian movie guy. What a genius. He started on Canadian tv I think, but he made his name with low budget horror movies that were unlike any other, often focusing on the human body and the way we relate to it. Martin Scorsese famously endorsed Scanners, and Videodrome and The Dead Zone soon followed. Heads exploding as a byproduct of thought, oozing ...

Quite a few men - myself somewhat included, although definitely not to the degree Cronenberg seems to have it - are somewhat repulsed by men, male bodies, and the stereotypical "male" attitude, and are completely perplexed as to why women seem to love them. And they wonder, if women do love them, then how , in the same way as men love women? Which is often beauty-worship? Just why do clubs ...

Last night at Torontos packed Canon Theatre, fans of Stephen King were treated to a 15-minute reading from the authors new novel, Under the Dome, and nearly an hours worth of typically funny anecdotes and keen observations during an on-stage interview with director David Cronenberg. Then King dropped a fan bombshell on the crowd by casually describing a novel idea he began working on last ...

I disagree. I enjoyed The Box significantly more than Videodrome and Eraserhead. Lynch, Cronenberg, and Kelly are all amazing directors in my opinion, and all of them have their own style. ------------------------------ Mischief. Mayhem. Pipinowns.
