I did my first batch of .357 mag reloads tonight using 125 gr. Berry's plated bullets over 7 grains of Titegroup, which should be good for about 1450 fps or so. My question is, do I need to crimp them? There is no crimp ring on the smooth-sided bullets and the rounds chamber fine in my 686. I didn't crimp my first batch of .38 specials with this bullet and there were no problems with ...

lee lists a factory crimp for each the 30.06 sgf and the 30/30 win. and the part numbers are diff. when you crimp with the lee dies arent you just crimping the last small portion of the case. bullet size is the same. shouldnt you be able to use the same crimp to bo both? or am i missing soomething? thanks

Using a dial caliper, how do you get consistent readings for the taper crimp on, for example, .45auto? I'm talking about the trouble I have actually taking a reading on a case. So what I do is eyeball the case to see if I get a straight line reflection of my overhead fluorescent tubes. For roll crimps, I look for a slight bend in the reflection at the mouth. Otherwise, I find...

Sponsored Links When you used crimp-on connectors, and even a single wire from the shield bundle is left touching the core wire, then all the signal to that coax is grounded out, right? I'm trying to find a problem with my dual control model 522 after moving the unit and shortening two of the coax lines and splicing the coax from TV#1 to TV#2. Since the move I am ...

Here's my problem. I've been loading 200grn. cast SWC in my 45ACPs for a long time with no problems. I recently bought a box of Berry's 200grn plated SWC and I'm having trouble getting a secure taper crimp. I can push the slug into the case with finger pressure. In order to secure the bullet I'm having to put what I feel like is way too much crimp on the case. I'm using the lee sizing ...

I'm trying to find a source for the original equipment crimp clamps found on our cars from the factory. Hopefully there are some BMW restoration gurus out there that can point me in the right direction. If anyone has a source, please let me know. RealOEM does not list the proper clamps. When you go to the dealer and ask for a fuel line hose clamp p/n such ...

What is a military crimp and how do I know whether my brass has a crimp? Is it necessary that crimps be removed or does it simply help with accuracy? Thanks.

> Was loading 30-06 ammo for my bolt action deer rifle this weekend and the dies I have are roll crimp design. The RCBS instructions that came with the die set identifies that I should take a sized, primed, ready to load cartridge and place it on the charging handle in the shell holder and raise it to its highest level. Then take the seating/crimping die and screw it...

Do any of you use the Lee factory crimp die in 45 colt? I just got one and it seems to be an adjustable taper crimp die rather than the "regular" Lee crimp dies that squeezes a collar around the case mouth. What do you think about crimping uncannelured jacketed and lead 45 colt bullets with this die? I wouldn't hesitate with the regular factory crimp die. Appreciate any advice.

Gidday, I am having a few issues when using non cannelured 124 grain hollowpoint .312 projectiles in my #4 enfield. Namely the sharp lip occaisionally catches on the feed ramp and theprojectile can be forced back into the case if you are too harsh on it. (I have caught it twice before I have fired). Question is: I am looking at getting a Lee factory crimp die in .303 British, has anyone noticed...

Yeah, great.....I am not feeling too positive on Audi's quality at this point. Now that the temps have dipped into the 20s, it looks like my rad is leaking on the passenger lower corner...at the stupid end tank crimp of course. Who has the cheapest replacement radiator? Are there any all-metal versions available?

with the adapter flange I made, the VR6 throttle body is just about ready to go, although I have a few new obstacles... Does anyone here know where I can find a mating connector, crimp pins and seals? and can anyone explain which terminal gets which wire for the TPS? Ever since I first began to look into B5's, the subject of "VR6 TB swap" has always come up,...

I've sometimes wondered what the dangers of this would be: 1) Take a factory shell and pry open the crimp. 2) Dump out the load. 3) Weigh it on a reloading scale. 4) Replace the load with a different load (as long as the replacement load weighed the same or less than original load). 5) Redo the crimp. For reference, I'm a beginner pistol and rifle reloader, never reloaded for shotgun (...
I'm working on some 9mm 147gr loads with Clays. Lyman manual says 1.9 gr start with 1.055 OAL for lead. This seems very short to me, especially with a 147gr bullet. The crimp would be up the taper of the bullet quite a bit. Anyone think it would be a problem at about 1.130 OAL? This OAL hand cycles fine in my DW PM-9 where these will be used.

Im not new to reloading, but am new to reloading 45s. Bought a used set of RCBS dies. Can not get bullet to crimp. Can actually turn and pull bullet with my fingers. Not real sure what Im doing wrong. No instructions came with the dies. That may have been the first mistake. Should have doubled down and got new dies. If someone knows what Im doing wrong, let me know.

It is round and the string runs through the middle..with a small crimp to hold it into place. sort of like a wheel with like 4 spokes.......they are older but I really liked them.....I did a google search but just patent info came up? It is called a rotating disk peep site. Thanks for any info....

Not the prawn or Jacobs variety, I like to make my own Christmas Crackers with used bog roll cardboard and crimp paper. What would you put in your Cracker to make it one to remember? A 50 note would be nice if the igniter didn't work too well. Cork screw? Condom ? Joint? Love note? Viagra tab? Any more ?

Just crimp enough to remove the flaring. You should concentrate your effort on making sure the case is gripping the bullet tightly enough. Seat a bullet and then try to push it back into the case, push hard. If you can move it it can setback when chambering and no amount of crimp is going to stop it. The reason this is happening is the expander plug in the flaring die is opening the mouth up too ...

That adds the point that pistol shooters have noted for years that crimping as a separate step results in more accurate ammunition than using the crimp feature in the seating die does. Not having the metal scraped as seating and crimping occur simultaneously is the usual explanation offered. Better COL consistency apparently results, as well. The Lee FCD adds that carbide ring. I think ...
