Well I decided to get stuff ready because I was going to plan on getting my cam cover powdercoated. First thing I did on it was try to take the crankcase ventilation hose that is on the backside of it. I squeezed the clamp and tried to slide the hose off, nope not going it's stuck on. So I slid the clamp back further, and WTF. The rubber was missing in areas where the clamp has sat on it, I could...

Does anyone in the Orlando area have one of these they would be willing to loan/rent out for the day? Honda Crankcase pulley removal tool Costs $24 to buy, so I would be willing to buy it off you for that much, or rent it for less perhaps. I need to replace timing belt/water pump and it seems like this is a must have to get the job done. To remove this ad, register ...

Hello all. I have a 2005 Mustang V6 with 56,500 kms on it. The owners manual recommends that I "replace the engine crankcase filter." at 50,000 kms. I have used the search feature on the forum and can't find any threads on how to do this. What is the engine crankcase filter, where is it located and how do I change it? Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Andy

On my Craftsmen snowblower, I overfilled the the crankcase and it went 1/2 times over the limit. I've noticed that the engine was very smooth and quieter. I see no oil burning present. any bad affects on this?

been a long time away from dirt, my 96kx125 has 3 stubs for hoses on it, the crankcase has 1 3/8 size stub, no hoses, got the bike running after going through carb, oil is blowing from top of crankcase near oil filler, toward carb,,, two stubs on opposite sides of slide and i know the one on the bottom of float bowl is overflow and should hang below bike. but for the life of me i can't seem to ...

Remove all Advertisements Does anyone know of any good fixes for a partially damaged crankcase, or perhaps somewhere I could pick up a used one? My bike fell over and the shift lever punctured the left crankcase on my 2006 crf 450r. Its a minor crack maybe about a quarter inch long. However now there is oil leaking from the crack and I don't really ...

Remove all Advertisements I recently bought an 06 250, very cheap, due to a damaged crankcase, and intend to have the cases split, have the bottom-end gone through, and damaged parts replaced. It has good compression, and kicks without any sign of issues. From what I can see the Counter Balance Shaft Gear broke into pieces, causing it to punch a hole...

Anybody know what the crankcase volume is on a Merc with the piston at BDC? I can check it but would be a pain in the a$$ and would rather ask before going thru the trouble. Info on any configuration would be helpful. Thanks

hi guys, some of you know that I did my oil change last week on my cts because the change oil soon was on. So as usual, I drain the oil, and put fresh oil in the crankcase + new filter. I started the engine like the usual to make sure the oil filter was full and then I checked the oil level again. It was missing about 1/4 qt. I said okay, lets put 1/4 qt more. I didn't realize it but I was ...

I just got a new intake (K&N Typhoon) and was about to install it. I noticed that the picture of the car they used had an L shape connector coming off the motor and mine on the 2010 looked straight. Has this changed between 2008 and 2010? Also, my assumption was that an intake for a 2008 would work on a 2010. Did I assume right?

Remove all Advertisements Not for the oil injection, of course. I run better oil in my bigger YZ, but don't necessarily want to run expensive oil in the PW50. Thanks for any info.

I have heard different ways on how you should fill oil. 1) Fill to lower mark when engine is cold, top mark is for 'hot' level. 2) Fill to top mark, cold engine The manual indicates "between low & high before riding..." so that seemes to say "fill to 'F' mark when the bike is cold". I did that; and then started the bike up, ran it thru the gears, and waited; it was low, so I added ...

A couple years ago there was a big write up about changing your crank case sensor for about$20. or so and having your engine run hotter, by running hotter you would get about 2-4 more mpg. When you buy a Smarty jr is this doing the same thing? retarding or advancing the timing on the trucks? If not Smarty which boxes will change our timing to run hotter. They are set to run cooler for ...

Temps here in Colorado Springs have been dipping some lately into the teens and the '07 F650GS doesn't want to start. No doubt a fresh battery would help but since we don't have one at hand we pulled out the heat gun and applied heat to the crankcase for about 15 minutes. That did the trick. PS Why on earth would you be starting a bike in 15 degree weather? We're trying to start it to ...

Interested in giving my bike a new look and was wanting some suggestions as to where I could get a great deal on good anodizing or powder coating. Wanting to do the frame, hubs, triple tree, clutch and crankcase covers on my KTM 250SXF. Thanks!

I was trying to trouble shoot an issue on my truck. I read some guy decided to plug his breather tube up on the pcv valve, and in return he got better millage. I also had pulled the large main tube off while the pcv valve going into the crankcase was running and plugged it with my thumb and I noticed my engine rpms lowered, I guess because at that point it needed less suction. So what are the ...

Hey there guys, I recently froze up my catch can and am trying to route the pcv back to the best 'stock' routing. On the EJ25 block, there are two crankcase vents, one pretty much right in the middle about 2 inches toward the firewall from the intake manifold. The PCV valve on my 2L WRX heads sticks out of the manifold almost directly above it. There is another crankcase vent about 8 inches ...

My cutless ciera 3.3l v6 automatic transmission (3 speed trans) with 125000 miles, I replaced the crankcase position sensor but not sure if I gapped it right. Some miles later, the car drives fine but when coming to a stop chokes out. I was thinking it does not shift into neutral out of 1st gear or something. Could it be the inproperly gapped crankcase position sensor or is it some ...
