I have just seen a letter from a local vicar in my newspaper saying that we should not speak out against councillors because they are God's people and so "self-interested" people should not be giving their opinions. Does anyone religious know of any stories that might speak against his opinions?...

Alby Walker has said that he wishes to spend more time with his family and will not be seeking re-election. Being charitable we will assume this has nothing to do with the chrushing of his ambitions to lead the council after the BNP website claimed over 60 councillors would vote for him. They didn't.
