We're first-timers in Costa Rica - will be there 2 weeks. Our plan is to fly from San Jose to Golfito and spend our time in the south. We'd love to have 3 days/2 nights in the Corcovado, starting from Carate, especially around Sirena, but there are 5 of us and the prices (~$425/person) are putting it out of my reach. We'll greatly appreciate any suggestions for getting a guided tour...

quovadis - thanks so much for the advice on the road times. I'm wondering how long I should give to the Arenal area in June? I thought 2 nights to catch the lava flows and hike one day, second day for the hot springs and the waterfalls. I have heard awesome things about riotropicales we think we want to take their trip on the Pecaure - class IV? We're out of season so I still need to ...

We are going to be in MA only for a day. Should we get a guide or just do the park on our own? We are doing a guided tour in Corcovado and doing the Cano negro tour. Will we see different wildlife here? Or should we just enjoy the park on our own with our limited time?

Glad you enjoyed your trip plumboy! So, with 10 days I'd recommend Corcovado (see above), Chirripó, and the beach at Manuel Antonio. It's a little rushed but all relatively in one geographic area, so you won't be running around the country too much, just a little :-) This would mean one or two nights at Chirripó, one or two nights at San Gerardo (that's where you'll start and end your ...
