I'm just using the "Alternative method" near the bottom of the first part of this page(before the test images) http://www. lagom.nl/lcd-test/contrast_ratio.php ..with the RGB values the deal is that you use the metering of a camera to compare the exposure time of a 100% white image(as bright as you have your brightness set on your monitor, which mine is turned down for the dimmer ...

How big a diffirence will there be between a LCD monitor with a contrast ratio of 800:1 and one of 2000:1 Is it worth it to fork out another R 800 for the same lcd but with a better contrast ratio of 2000:1 ? Thanks

hello i was wondering if anyone else have this problem / issue what i notice in the 2nd gen ipod touch compare to the the 1st gen touch is the the differences in contrast of the screen 1st gen ipod touch appears to be darker and 2nd gen ipod touch lighter or "washed out" the black in the 2nd gen doesnt appears to be black black, if anyone knows what im talking about ...

Hi i went in a computer shop near me and they had an AOP 22" monitor. i've checked their website and it says that its got a 3000:1 contrast ratio. i was intending on getting the Samsung SM-2253LW Aqua 21.6" which has a 8000:1 contrast ratio. i'm guessing higher numbers = better but could somebody explain this contrast ratio malarky to me and explain why the samsung is probably a better buy. ...

the 26 inch samsung monitor for computers with a resolution of 1920 by 1200 with a built in HD tuner has a contrast ratio of 20,000 to 1 and the the apple 23 inch or 30 inch has only a 300 to 1 contrast ratio? The samsung monitor is much cheaper too.... any comments on this? ...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the lack of uniformity regarding any sort of rating system in audio/video exists. I work in a totally non related field - but same thing. We develop, test, and sell a product. We use massive replication across environments and statistical analysis to arrive to a final value. While the "name" of the value being stated is universal - the actual rating ...

Hi, I'm looking in to getting a very large panel for doing GIS applications on (ArcGIS, ESRI, ER MAPPER etc.) But most importantly I would like something that has a good contrast ratio and represents colours accurately and precisely, since this is for my final year or so of school and for my future career. Ideally I would prefer one large screen (so I can watch movies on it too...
