Hi, I'm working for a company where the client really doesn't want to know what HTML is and they have an existing site and they want to update it on demand. So I'm just wondering if there is any type of easy to use CMS that FTP's in and edits HTML pages. I running into walls wherever I turn here.... would much appreciate if you guys could help. Thanks, J

Hallo allerseits.

Most systems I'm aware for enterprise address management have pretty impressive price tags. When I've been looking, it's been more for DHCP and asset management, called IPAM as an entirety, but they tend to overlap with your descriptions to a reasonable extent, e.g. DiamondIP, Vital QIP, OpUtils (which has a free edition - may be a good bet), BlueCat Proteus etc.

ArunPS you have a configuration error There doesn't seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started. Need more help? We got it. You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn't work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.

Hi, Sorry for the misunderstanding. There is one particular disadvantage to the RESX approach: it is hard to support translation model where the users translate your resources for you. Take for example the Facebook translation model. Facebook has fairly simple way for people to provide and vote on translations of various resources. If these are stored in a database, it would be possible...

To what end?  I'm not really clear what you're asking. Do we use a CMS?  No we use a VLE which can work as a CMS if you don't use its full facilities. Students doing websites with backend databases need access to a server and database software surely?  Presumably via ftp or such.  Therefore I don't see the connection between the CMS and the coursework? Or have I missed the point?

Dreamweaver? Not really. But you can set up Wordpress (pages for static content) to handle that relatively easily, but you've got to change either its path settings or create a 301 redirects.

Any time I hear "WCM" I have to remind myself that it is a different product, with different licensing ($) and infrastructure. I think that all the presentations I've head on WCM seem to indicate that Portal and WCM are "one". They may work well together, but are definitely not one product. Maybe they should be for Portal itself to survive the web20 wave.
